Type of fluid in 2004 volks golf gti v-6 power steeing / clutch reservoir- not listed in manual

Sorry I don't know but if it is a hydraulic clutch and not a cable, the clutch master cylinder should be simple to locate as it is generally mounted on the engine compartment/passenger compartment firewall in approximate alignment with the clutch pedal.

Once the clutch master cylinder is located the reservoir won't be far from it. The traditional type of clutch reservoir has almost been superceded by a semi-sealed type. Sometimes the reservoir is remote and connected by a tube and often a fluid supply from the brake reservoir is used.

Details should be found in the vehicle handbook...

A mechanic would check the clutch safety switch for power, then the key switch.

am i going crazy or is my golf 2005 with a cable clutch, different from everyone elses.....?????

with your loss of power do you also have a hissing noise from the engine? this may be due to a leak of high pres air from the air pipes or intercooler

That is the power steering fluid reservoir. Be sure to replace any fluid lost with the correct type.

Volkswagen uses a specific type of fluid. Using the wrong one will result in damage to the power steering pump and/or rack and pinion.

Consult your owners manual or the Volks dealer to be sure you are getting the right fluid.

You blew the clutch cylinder or the related slave cylinder.  Refill with brake fluid and check for leaks and remember to bleed out the air.

I have the same problem with 05 XC90 2.5T.. It seems like there is a problem with the power steering pump. And the only way to fix it is to change the pump. Now i'm trying to use the lucas stop leaking thing as well and will see what happens.

oil,air,fuel,pollen filters,check all brakes,rear axle bushes,and check the cambelt or you may regret it.........
