I would go to and go to the tech forums for your model car. Lots of good help there.

I have a Ford fusion 2003 and I can't change into 5th gear. Is it the clutch or gear box?

Gearbox. synchronizers or bearings. Or both. 5 speeds had a problem with the fifth gear bearings. Which I have seen to take out the synchronizers. Rebuild the transmission.

Hurth gearbox manual

Perkin engines were built to a standard bell housing configuration so that gear boxes of different makes would fit straight on. If you hurth gear box was made to these standards then the bell housing will bolt up to the engine. It was no 1 for most gear boxes or no2 for road ranger -splicer . Check with an engine rebuilder rand they will be able to tell you.

I Need to top up my gearbox oil and I don't know where the filler part is on the gearbox.

Are you referring to the front diff, rear diff or transfer case? On any of them gear boxes there is a fill plug and sometimes a drain plug. The fill plug is the plug closer to the top of the gear box. Just turn it out and wipe the metal shavings off it and fill the gearbox with the required gear lube until the lubricant just barely seeps out and that's the fill level. Plug the gear box again and your done. This is standard with gearboxes.

IF a transmission (not gear box) gets low on transmission fluid - that can certainly cause bad damage..
A automatic transmission rund by hydrolic bands - not gears..

A re-built trani is pretty much as good as a new one - and certainly less expensive than a new one..

Most all auto trani's are re-built rather than being replaced with a new one..
