I have the same problem with my rodeo. The reduced power light comes on and it slows to a crawl. I have been told it is the converter but I have not had it replaced yet.

My check engine light stays constantly on, and now while driving the "reduced power" light comes on and the engine drops to almost an idle. I can only go about 20 mph. We've replace all but one of the oxygen sensors.

I have a 2003 Isuzu Rodeo. I have replaced all the oxygen sensors, yet the Reduced Power / Check Engine light still comes on. The battery is a year old at the most, and all the fluids were checked and filled 6 weeks ago. Any suggestions?

I just went through this with my 2001 rodeo and the dealer needed to replace several parts over several weeks because they could not get the problem to go away.

-APP/throttle pos. sensor needs calibration/replacement
-air idle control needs replacing
-throttle body needs replacement
After months of going back and forth to the deal with the same problem, the throttle body was replaced last week and the problem has dissapeared....for now...

Just had this problem about a week ago. The computer was replaced and all was gone. I too had the oxygen sensor replaced before going that route and the engine light continued to appear until I had the computer replaced.

I have an 03 Rodeo, had the check engine and reduced power lights for 2nd time now. The first time I wrote it off to moisture getting into wiring connectors. I replaced fuel filter and spark plugs. Then used dielectric silicone on all connections, bought an innova 3030 code reader and reset all faults in computer. This fixed the problem for about 7 months then it happened again. All codes were throttle related, I reset all of them but still had reduced power light. Thinking of the harm ethanol can do, I asked my wife where she had been filling up. The station she had been using only sells 10% ethanol fuel. So I bought a bottle of Berryman octane boost and added it to the fuel. After resetting the computer again, I started the engine and all problems were gone. At least for now!

the Reduce light, is not transmission , light correct?

what country are you in., ( asked 10000 times zero answers .well 3)
what engine,? we cant guess engines, here, and it seems to be just that, the engine issues.??? felt is real;. sure..

is the tranny stick or auto...... autos can slip and go to limp home mode just like engines do. so what transmission?

if in USA all scan tool made will scan an ISUZU. 1996+
so then you see DTC errors. and why its in limphome mode.
"your reduced power deal"
there is no other way,,,, besides, 1000 pages i type on how to test EFI with not scan tools.....I can do it. but refuse. to type that here..
as one famous poster said.
you want 50 years experience on 1 fixya page. :LOL

i wont say that, I say.
1: check all fuses.
2: make sure battery, voltage is 13.3 to 15v running, if not you have charge system failures, fix that first because EFI will not run on dead batteries, ever. (discharged for any reasons)
3:Scan it. do so and tell the DTC errors, im sure you have them.
4: or did you skip the 60,000 mile major tuneup, or never did one this decade,,,, wow, that be why , huh?

What causes the reduced power light and check engine light o come on while running and makes car lose power?

sound like you have a co sensor problem. you will have to take it for OBD scan. will give you the error code for what sensor is faulty.

What makes the reduced power light come on?

the "brain" of the car has detected a problem and is reducing the power available (limp home mode), get it to a garage and have them scan the odb2 data (or get a odb2 scanner and do it yourself. it will provide a fault code) the fault code will tell why it went to reduced power mode (limp home)

Try adding gas line antifreeze to your fuel. If you have water in the gas, this will clear it up. Water in the gas line can turn to slush or even ice when the temperature dips below freezing, causing reduced power because of reduced fuel flow.

2000 isuzu rodeo check engine light flashes when at or around 2500 rpm and up. engine runs smooth and no codes come up ? light goes out when rpm is reduced.

are you checking code with a small simple scanner this will not always work, a larger more sophisticated unit may find code or runs codes at over 2500 rpms when light comes on

Reduced power light is on and truck will not pick up speed

Hello,

I just purchased my 2001 Rodeo the engine light came on. I replaced the spark plugs and oxygen sensor and though the car seemed to ride a little better, the engine light continued to stay on. After a week or so I experienced the exact same problem. The vehicle would not go over 40 miles per hour and the reduced power light came on. I had it put on a machine and got many different codes, however, all the codes lead up to the computer. I had just the computer replaced and all is well. Most of the time, the read out will show many codes, but most of the time they all lead to just one part. Try that. It worked for me and now it runs great.
