Check the fuse and bulbs, I f they are OK then maybe your backup switch is bad which should be located on your transmission. Good luck

If bulbs, fuse, and wiring is good, it could be the reverse switch in shifter or transmission. Check it out in a manual for the component location.

Hi there,

On the transmission, there will be a switch. Chances are its faulty. You'll need to trace the wire from the transmission box. Try unscrewing the switch as well to check if its worn.

Hope this helps,
levibit

ps. you'll need to get under the car. observe safety measures

Stuck in park, power windows don't work, reverse lights don't work dash doesn't work. keeps blowing 10 amp fuse for reverse lights.changed brake pedal switch didn't help

of course changing a brake pedal switch will not help in a reversing light problem
they are two totally different circuits
check for a damaged wire at the reverse light switch or bulb holder for the reversing bulbs for a dead short
as for the rest check the IGN fuse under the bonnet

Reverse light not working what to do

If bulbs are good then you need to check the switch that powers them when you put the car into reverse.

FYI - Neutral safety switch prevents car from starting unless it is in neutral transmission position only.

Reset reverse light indicator camry

Make sure the tail lights and brake lights are working including the one in the rear window, if any of these are out the dash warning light will stay on, any bulbs that look discolored should be replaced

Reversing lights not working

It may be a bad back-up light switch on the transmission. Look for a two-wire connector on the transmission or transaxle, although it may be included in a wiring harness for the transaxle. If you find the two wires for the reverse light switch, you can jumper the two wires together, and with key on, the reverse lights should be on, verifying a bad reverse light switch. Screw it out and replace. But if still no lights, there may be a wiring break or a wiring problem going to the lights.
Good luck.

I have replaced reverse light bulb, however new bulb will not work. I have checked the bulb, the fuses and the wiring, any ideas why can't get it work. Also indicator on dash still present.

The reverse light switch is a mechanical device used to control operation of the vehicle reverse lights. The switch is designed to complete the circuit when reverse gear is selected allowing reverse light operation (manual transmission only).

2005 Pathfinder no reverse lights

On the side of your transmission will be a switch with several wires coming out of it. This is your reverse switch that turns on your reverse lights and most likely needs to be replaced
