Change oil still showing after oil and filter is changed

In Ford Taurus X, after an oil change, the oil life indicator can be reset to 100% by holding the reset (system check) button. It will prompt you whether you want to reset to 100%. Set it and it will come back to 100%. This step takes hardly 10 seconds.

NEED TO RESET OIL CHANGE LIGHT

How to Reset the Engine Oil Life System
The Engine Oil Life System calculates when to change the engine oil and filter based on vehicle use. Whenever the oil is changed, reset the system so it can calculate when the next oil change is required. If a situation occurs where the oil is changed prior to a CHANGE ENGINE OIL SOON message being turned on, reset the system.
Always reset the engine oil life to 100% after every oil change. It will not reset itself. To reset the Engine Oil Life System:
Display the OIL LIFE REMAINING on the DIC.
Press and hold the SET/RESET button on the DIC for more than five seconds. The oil life will change to 100%.
If the CHANGE ENGINE OIL SOON message comes back on when the vehicle is started, the Engine Oil Life System has not reset. Repeat the procedure.
Good luck and thanks for your question and I hope my suggestions help. burdfrenzy

How much to change a oil pan gasket for 2001 grand prix 3.8 gt

If you want to repair the oil pan I would also check lower engine mount for leaking oil and cracks in anti sway bar near fitting's. This due to engine mount is oil filled. OEM sway bar is made of tubular steel and they crack easy. Replacement sway bar is solid steel. Here's the kicker. When they pull the lower frame to service oil pan. The engine mount and sway bar are attached to that frame. A honest mechanic should only charge for parts ($35 for mount and $100 for sway bar) and maybe a extra hour. My mechanic did all in 5 hours. FYI gasket is only $35 bucks. Good luck

With my 2007 XL-7, it would reset like the manual said until 30,000 miles. Today I took it to a repair shop to have the oil changed. They wrote the following instructions that reset mine today. 1. Press information button until 'oil life' is displayed. 2. Tap check mark two times and hold it on the third tap. Good luck!!

Is it easy to change oil myself in my hyundai 2002 sonata

yes it very easy if you have all the tools and a small ramp you can drive the car up on. today my opinion its not worth changing your own oil anymore unless you enjoying get down dirty and greasy. us "mechanic" don't even change or own oil. most places now offer oil change for 19.95 to 29.95. take your car which will take 4.5 quarts of oil and it will cost you, 2.25 each would come to 10.00 bucks, filter 8.00 buck and now you have 19.00 bucks. Im assummed this will be your first oil change, you will need to by the oil filter removal tools, two small car ramp, oil pan and a big container to storage your used oil. you will have close to 100 buck on the tools. if you plan to change your oil regularly, than it would be good investment in the tools. even though oil change is 29.95 to me it worth paying some one 10 bucks to get underneath that car and have them do the oil change. hope that help some
