The inner wheel bering is held in with a plate that is screwed in. no special tool is needed. You must remove the bearing housing from the brake disk. It took me 1.5 hours to do both sides.

I replaced the wheel bearings on the drivers side of my 2001 isuzu rodeo and i am trying to get the snap ring back in place but the spindle will not come out far enough. i am about 1/16" shy from the clip...

Your wheel bearing isn't seated all the way to it's stop and need to be pressed in further. Usually you'll know when it hits the ledge, it won't do anything even if an elephant was standing on it.
