Problems starting after 6+ hours of car standing...

Hi
1998 Nissan Sentra 160si, 170k odd on the odometer.

On cold mornings the car will not start. The engine will turn over audibly, and some cylinders might catch, but the car does not start. To make the problem even more perplexing is that in the past i HAVE MANAGED to get it started in this situation, though usually after 10 or so crank attempts.
Furthermore, if I drive the car after a push start or something, there are no problems starting the car again for a couple of hours...

I have ruled out the battery as a cause, as well as the alternator. Battery is new and the alternator charges between 13.5V and 14.3V.

Any ideas?

My nissan sentra 2001 does not start. But if I try after about half an hour or so , it would start. Battery is okay. Got starter replaced last year. Any help is appreciated.

When you have a problem starting, open the throttle all the way and crank it (step on the gas pedal all the way)it should start.

Nissan sentra 2010 computer with gauges turns off

Hi. This sounds like a body control module issue. At a nissan dealership they should be able to reprogram the bcm. There is often new updates available. I am a nissan tech but not at work right now. If you want, I can check to see if there is any bulletins on this when I get to work in the morning.

Hi Jacques, The idea of having On board diagnostics is to save you from guessing where the problem is. Have the diagnostic scan carried out before doing any other work, thereby avoiding un required work. As rats have been at the wiring, I'll take a guess and assume they have also been at the vacuum hoses and tubes. Check all for damage, breakage and loose fitting. Also check the ducting between the air flow sensor and the throttle body. If you find any damage replace them. Remove the air cold start bypass up idle valve and clean it. Make sure that the computer temperature sender unit is working correctly and then attend to the scan results. Regards John

I have a 2004 nissan sentra it takes me 6-10 times to get it started and when it gets cold outside it gets worse ive had the sensors replaced twice then i took it to the dealership and they told me it was...

I just read that the fuel pressure regulator on the 2004 Sentra can bleed pressure overnight, resulting in long cranking times in the morning.

you hit the nail on the head ,cold and silicone chips ,they do not like the cold weather they can be temperamental to say the least ,as for finding the faulty component you will need an identical car that works ok ,then when yours will not start try swopping bits till you hit the one causing the problem.or sell it for a nice manual diesel version,

Nissan Sentra GA14 engine - Water in Engine Oil

If the engine has been flushed well including the radiator and you are still getting water in the oil. The culprit is the cylinder head or the block has a crack internally allowing water into the oil.
