Question about 1999 Volkswagen Passat
My gas tank cap will not open from the outside. There is a button in the middle console that release the door to the gas cap/tank. I continue to press the button with no response from the car. Is there another way to open that door or how can I fix this problem?
If my memory serves me right, the solenoid which pulls the cable to open the gas cap door is in the trunk on the side wall. Just gain access to it and then operate the plunger by hand. If you have one of those net storage bins fitted then you may need to remove that first as it could be behind it.
If you want to diagnose the problem, you need a volt meter to trace if, and where the voltage is missing.
Very best regards
