Question about 2000 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
I have a 2001 E320. When the car is started cold, the engine seem to stayed revved up to 2500-3000 rpm when you take off. It seems to rev up very high when driven for 1-2 mins. and satys on one low gear and does not change up. I stopped the car then re-started it, and the problem went away. It happened a couple of time on very cold mornings- 8-10C, When I sit there an ideling it for 1-2 mins before driving off. it seem to cut back to normal gears when you pick up speed, 20klm/hr, then 40klms/hrs and then60klms/hr. The gear seem to change fine.
I took it to my Merc specialist and he said the computer is showing it's storing some flat battery fauls in it's memory and this may be the cause. I left it with him overnight to see if this problem will re-occurr. It seem to be OK on warmer morning.. and doe snot seem to happen when the caris warm.
What are your thoughts.
Thank you..Andrew

Thank
Mine is an 1999 E430 and when cold the low gears are held for about 10 minutes after starting!
I know the intention is to promoite a quicker warm up, but that is only supposed to be a minute or so.
Any solution anyone please?
