if light is on, have it scanned to find problem code. a bad crank sensor will cause this. it controls the timing of the crankshaft. the engine may start, but cut out in a few seconds or minutes if it starts at all! have a good one!! car may stall when stopped.
NOTE: If the service interval indicator flashes it may be caused by one of the service interval indicator parameters not being programmed. This can only be done with suitable diagnostic equipment. Always check for any stored trouble codes as this may affect the resetting of the service interval indicator. Turn ignition key to position I. Press and hold reset button [A] 20573 for trip meter. Turn ignition key to position II. Keep button [A] depressed until service interval indicator flashes (approximately 10 seconds). Release reset button [A] within 5 seconds. There will be an audible signal when reset complete. If reset button is not released within 5 seconds, the service interval indicator will not be reset but will stop flashing.
hi yes this can be done, here is how
make sure you have all keys ready to reprogram
close all windows and doors
insert key into drivers door lock
within 5 seconds of putting key in door lock turn key to unlock position 3 times
this puts the key into programming mode ( door led should be on )
press and hold lock button, within 5 seconds of holding lock button
press unlock button 3 times ( keeping lock button pressed at same time)
then release lock button
that should be it...to make sure correct programming is achieved key led flashes 5 times, and door led flashes 6 time, if you have more than one key do same as above within 15 seconds of doing the first key..
phew..lol, well i hope that will work for you..please vote thanks

[quote] The "Change
Oil" indicator is reset by using a sequence of Driver Information Center
(DIC) key presses as follows:
1. Turn ignition "ON", but do not start engine. (ALDL pin
"G" should NOT be grounded.)
2. Press the "ENG/MET" button and release, then, within 5 seconds,
press it again.
3. Within 5 seconds of Step 2, press and hold the "GAUGES" button.
While the button is held, the "Change Oil" indicator will flash.
4. Continue holding the "GAUGES" button until the "Change
Oil" indicator stops flashing and goes out, indicating successful
completion of the reset cycle. This should take about 10 seconds.
If it does not successfully reset, turn ignition "OFF" and repeat
the procedure from Step 1.

Acording the online manual , that is the Hybrid system warning light. I havn't tracked down exactly what it means , but is is grouped in with other service reminders. Will add more info when i find it " Google 2005 prius warning light " one of the first listings has a link to toyotapartsandservice.com
I had the same problem in my 96 f-350. The transmission has slipped recording a slip code in the transmission. You can pull the codes and get it. I shifts into a safe mode that increases the pressure inside your transmission as part od a fail safe. Plain and simple, you have to have the tranny rebuilt.
