Loose hose from top of engine

Recently had an oil leak fixed on my toyota cressida 1990. Noticed just the other day, there is a loose hose from the top of the engine. it is not a lead for spark plug. The hose is attached at top but is not connected at the other end.

I have a couple of questions.

    1. Are you the only owner?

    2. When you bought this car, is it a used car?

I didn't see the car, but I want you to turn on the heater and see if you have hot air come out, if you do not have hot air, that means the car has a by pass hose, this by pass hose did not pass the heater cort and because probably the heater cort was leaking before. so somebody use this way to manage your cooling system for your engine, the hose on the top probably from the heater cort, because usually the factory use 1/2" rubber hose for heater system in the front, please check the wall behind the engine, see if the other end of this hose from there, if I am right, that hose is old heater hose and because somebody use a by pass hose and it is useless, but you won't get heater during the winter time.

Please let me know more or if you have friend can double check with you.

    Frank

If the situation like this, second you have to check

PS heater cort, I am not sure I used the right word,

Heater cort, I don’t know how to spell this word, it is heater unit mount underneath the dash board, it is around 8” x 10”, just like a small radiator, when you turn on the heater, the fan blow the hot air into your car.

During the summer time, if your car over heated, you can turn on your heater and drive short distance and fix it to save your engine.

Anyone have a solution to the distributor leaking oil. This is the second one that has this problem and I hate to shell out a couple hundred buck for a new one every time it starts leaking. Cressida...

will try to help. been there with the vibrating cressidas, sometimes have to even make sure the oil filers staying tight.i can tell you what i've done in the past. i've used blue rtv glue to form seals and to help existing seals it's oil resistant and does help with leaks, if it's a hot spot, i use the orange heat resistant rtv glue. you can find it at autozone advance auto, or another parts store locally. as in any repair with rtv,i always go another step and let rtv dry 24hrs. if it continually leaks up the shaft, you've got great oil pressure for sure, just got to keep it in. hope this helps and thank you for choosing fixya.com

Since having the head gasket replaced on my daughters 1990 Toyota Cressida we have been having a problem with oil leaking from the head. Apparently this is due to the screws holding the head down coming...

In my humble oppinion this is on your mechanic. There is no reason why a properly done job should leak that amount of oil.If those bolts are backing off they have either not got the right torque spec or they have over torqued the bolts and stripped the threads which is why they keep coming loose. If this is what has happened no amount of gaskets or locktite in the world is going to fix this.In addition did the car overheat because of the original head gasket. If so your head may be warped allowing oil to seep out.Try having the head decked or find another one from the wreckers.Regardless your mechanic should make this right ,I know I would! Good Luck

Antifreeze from the radiator does go into your engine to cool the engine down thats normal but if antifreeze is found in the engine oil then you have a problem, like bad head gasket or cracked engine head or engine block. Hope I answered your question. If I did leave me a FIX YA

1990 Toyota Cressida Antifreeze leaking badly

Your cooling system is what keeps your car from having a meltdown. If you didn't have some way to cool things off, your engine would turn into a solid block of useless metal in no time flat. All of the parts that make up the cooling system have one goal of moving coolant around the engine so it can absorb and dissipate heat. The basic system is made up of the following components:
  1. radiator
  2. radiator top hose
  3. radiator bottom hose
  4. water pump
from your problem u stated
Checking for the problem I saw some a lot of antifreeze on the bottom of my engine covering or whatever it is (not the hood).
looking at the parts involved its probably not burning in the engine unless the car has overheated to much, it sounds likes its one of ur delivery or return hoses from the motor that is leaking. do a close attention to detail to your hoses and components related to the cooling system, u may not see the leak from the top since gravity will draw the fluid down

Radiator hoses

If the coolant is going into the engine the oil should look milky.
You might want to check your water pump to make sure has not worn out and is leaking from there.
