Under the hood you will find a plastic coolant surge tank, it has a regular radiator cap on it, coolant is added there, the tank is pressurized and coolant can cause severe burns, so never open on with hot engine use 50/50 mix of coolant or premixed. The coolant surge tank is located behind the battery next to the strut tower at the firewall. There is a picture on page 320 0f the owners manual.

When I add water to radiator it just rushes out in the above mentioned area, behind the dngine

Freeze plugs. Your coolent was weak, it froze in your engine, expanded and pushed out 1 or more freeze plugs. To get to the rear most ones, head or engine removal will be required. Hope that is all the damage done, usually the engine block will bust/crack as well as your waterpump or anything that has coolent in it.

Cannot locate cold fill line on impala 2008 coolant overflow tank

Just fill it up 1/4 full with coolent. Coolent expands when hot, which will fill the tank up more, so don't over fill too much. If you think your low on coolent, let the engine cool down, and open the radiator cap and fill it full from there. Filling the tank, will not add ANY coolent to the radiator untill it warms up (expands) and cools down (contracts pulling in coolent from the tank only at this moment.)

Bleed cooling system

Drain out coolent from the drain located near the bottom of your radiator. Add whatever your going to use as the flush. Start engine and let warm up completly. let sit till cool. Drain. Refill with proper coolent.

Reset computer

Remove the plug from the coolent line, and gound them out as to close the switch, thus making the compressor think it has pressure to run, then you can add your coolent to proper lvl, the plug your wires back in.

Found oil in my coolent expansion tank

Generally speaking, if you have engine oil in the cooling system, you have a leak somewhere in the engine, which could be a head gasket.
Is there any sign of coolant in the engine oil ?

My temperature gage is going over in the red and my heat is not

Check the sensor which controls the cooling fans that cools the radiator it prevents the engine from over heating and allows the temp gauge to stay at normal range.recently had problems with my 2003 impala overheating it was the sensor had the thermostat replace as well.

Coolent lose

Check youre waterpump...also spending 5 dollars on "Radiator STOP Leak" is a good investment. its an additive you add to youre radiator. If the actual radiator has a small crack or leak, this will fix it. Check every inch of both the upper and lower radiator hoses and connections.
