I just had to replace the head gaskets. got it shaved and pressure cheaked etc. pulled the emmisons **** off put on a webber carb. new plugs wires dist.cap roter fuel pump etc. adjusted the timing ran fine for about 2 iles brought it home shut it off went back out 2 hours later now it wont hold in idle and it back fires thru the carb. please help
Timing is not right, or the belt/chain has jumped

If it wont hold an idle then one or more of the cylinders are probably too low or high in compression and if it's backfireing then the ignition timming could be off. I would take a compressin test of all cylenders and if they are all in range I would hook up a timming light to se if the timming is out
