Timing is not right, or the belt/chain has jumped

If it wont hold an idle then one or more of the cylinders are probably too low or high in compression and if it's backfireing then the ignition timming could be off. I would take a compressin test of all cylenders and if they are all in range I would hook up a timming light to se if the timming is out

you have coolant getting into your oil. You probably have a head gasket failure. You need to get that repaired a.s.a.p if you keep driving it your going to need a new engine.

Blowing smoke, from exhaust, wanna know if i can just shave the head, new head gasket, n put new valve guide seals etc and gaskets etc or am I up for a rebuild???? Danny.

you didnt say how many miles the engine has, but that engine does not take very well to shaved heads (the tolerance is way to small)

I would rebuild the engine with the help of a qualified machine shop, or get a long block and go from there.

Why am I having to replace my head gasket on my 1989 B2200 about every two years? Do I need to replace head bolts with new ones or what? Thanks--Steve

If you are replacing the gasket, are you doing a complete head job or just the gasket? If you are only doing the gasket and not having the head resurfaced(machined), That could very well be your problem. Does the gasket blow in the same place everytime? That is why if so. If you have been resurfacing every time you replace your gasket, and its been done more than twice, you need another head. Now to answer your question, Yes, It would be very wise to replace the head bolts with new. If I remember right, that engine has stretch bolts that have a one time use only limit on them. I could be wrong but I think if you already have that much of your engine apart, might as well spend a few more bucks to make sure everything is rite.

When im driving about 45 or 50 mph my truck starts sputtering and slowing down. Its getting gas and the carburator is good what can it be. It an 87 mazda b2200

mcdevito75 here, It could be a dirty gas filter, weak fuel pump, fulty needle valve in the carb. Have your local shop check it out., Also could be a wek timeing chain.

CHECK FUEL FILTER FIRST..YOUCAN HAVE PLENTY OF GAS AT IDLE AND SLOWER SPEEDS BUT NOT ENOUGH FOR FASTER SPEEDS..CHECK RUBBER HOSE TO TANK ,,IT MAY BE CRACKED..WON'T LEAK BUT PULLS IN AIR.

I put in a weber carb to my 87 mazda b2000 but i am havin a problem whit the ignition timing 6 BTC its not runing good neds more power

I just put a 38 Outlaw on,the Weber instructions indicate that you may need to advance the ignition to as much as 12 BTC to compensate fro the larger primary and icrease in fuel delivered at intial acceleration.Hope this helps
