I was unable to reach the back of the headlight to remove the bulb, (too many hoses and stuff). I then thoughtto remove the whole headlight, undid the 3 visible bolts from the top ofthe housing but theheadlight still won't release.

    Is there another bolt somewhere?

I had to put new headlights on my 96 taurus couple of years ago, from what I remember their is a forth bolt at the back of the headlight next to a guage to angle the light left or right up or down, this bolt(holds the bottom of the headlight while the others anchor the top) is in the middle between the back two bolts that you have already removed. Once you remove the housing, twist the black ring and pull to remove the bulb.

I need to change the headlights in a 1998 cavalier but I don't know how to take off the cover for the headlights?

You change the bulbs from the back of the composite headlight assembly. Open the hood, turn the bulb connector counterclockwise-about a quarter turn, and pull connector and bulb out. Take old bulb out, put new on on-don't touch the bulb glass with your fingers, body oil may shorten bulb life.

How to Replace a Headlight Bulb in a Ford Taurus

The Ford Taurus has one of thelongest production histories of any of Ford's mid- cars. You should check that the headlightson your Ford Taurus are working properly on a regular basis. When one of theheadlight bulbs burn out, replacing it is a simple repair you can performyourself. These steps apply only to the fourth generation Ford Taurus producedafter 2000.

1. Turn off your Ford Taurus, engage the parking brake and remove the keys fromthe ignition before beginning any repairs. Ensure that the headlights are offby double-checking you turned the interior control completely to the offposition. 2. Raise the hood by firstpulling up on the interior hood release latch located under the instrumentpanel on the left of the steering column. Walk around to the front of the car and release the auxiliary latchlocated at the front center of the hood. Raise the hood until the liftcylinders catch and hold the hood open on its own. 3. Unscrew the bolt from theheadlamp assembly by turning it counterclockwise. Use a screwdriver or pliersto pry up the retaining pins enough that you can pull them straight up and outwith either your hands or a pair of pliers. These pins are located at the backof the headlight assembly. 4. Pull the headlight assembly out from the front of the vehicle. Remove the protective dust shieldfrom the electrical connector and bulb assembly by turning it counterclockwiseand pulling it off. 5. Free the bulb assembly by disconnecting the electricalconnector and retaining ring. You can simply pull off the connector to removeit. The retaining ring requires a counterclockwise turn for removal. 6. Take out the old headlight bulb by pulling it straightout from the headlight assembly. 7. Install a new replacement bulb by pushing it straightin with the flat part of the bulb's base facing upward. Be sure that thegrooves in the plastic base of the bulb align properly with those in theheadlight assembly. 8. Reinstall the remaining components of the headlightassembly in reverse order of removal and check that the headlights are workingproperly. 96 camry headlight dont work

Headlights are one of the most important safety features on your car, but they can only do their job if they're properly maintained. It's not just burned out headlights that cause problems; headlights that are dim or incorrectly aligned can also lead to accidents. Fortunately, learning how to repair headlights is something even the least mechanically inclined person can do. When you know how to repair headlights yourself, you can save up to several hundred dollars on mechanic's fees. Here are some tips on how to repair headlights with common problems.

Headlights that don't turn on
If you're headlights aren't working at all, the most likely cause is a burned out bulb. All you need to do to repair the headlights is replace the bulb. If you have plastic lenses, you can take out the old bulb by removing the lens and unscrewing the bulb from the back of the lens. With glass headlights, though, you'll need to replace the whole glass. Since you're buying new bulbs anyway, consider picking up one of the new, brighter types of bulbs, such as the halogen or xenon types.
When you've got your replacement bulb, install it and turn on the lights. If the headlights still don't work, it's a sign of an electrical problem. Because electrical problems are relatively complicated to repair, take your car to a mechanic before you try to do anything else with the headlights.
This will help. Thanks please keep updated. please please do rate the solution positively .thank you for using fixya

I have a ford taurus 95 and the passenger brake lite and blinker is not working but when u put the lites on the bulbs work but still no brake lite and blinker

You most likely need a new bulb in that location.
It is a dual filament bulb......one filament for the brake and signal and one for the running light ....both in the same bulb.
Remove the old bulb and get a replacement bulb using the # printed on the old bulb.

Detailed explaination on changing headlights on a 1999 mistsubish

Your headlights are just bulbs that need to be changed from under the hood. When you open the hood and look at the back side of the headlight you will see the wires sticking out. There is a black plastic ring that you will need to twist counter clockwise about 1/4 of a turn then pull. You will end up with this ring the socket and the old bulb in your hand at this point. If you look at your new bulb (don't handle by the glass!) and compare it to the old you will be able to see how the socket comes off by pulling. Reinstall in oppisite order and you will be fine.

Headlights

You change the bulb from the back of the light. Just squeeze the nylon lock and turn it 1/4 turn or so, counterclock wise, and pull it out. Pull the bulb out, and , being careful not to touch the glass part of your new bulb, stick it in the socket. The oil on your fingers can't touch the glass on the bulb, or it will fail prematurely.
