Be sure to test your radiator fan. You can start up your car car and let it idle until the engine reaches normal operating temperature, and that should cause your fan to come on. If your fan does not come on even as it starts to overheat, then you should replace your cooling fan. It is possible your radiator is clogged and the water is not being cooled properly. If you do replace your radiator, be sure you replace your upper and lower radiator hoses as well to be safe. If not even that helps, the only other thing I can think of would be your water pump. If you've never replaced that before, it would be a good idea to replace it. There really isn't that much to your cooling system, and it sounds like you've already replaced some of the most common causes for this problem. You can even try to use a coolant mix with more water rather than anti-freeze; like 70% water and 30% anti-freeze.

Since your check engine light is on now, you can have your car's computer scanned for codes. If you have an AutoZone in your area, they can check your car's computer for free. Just go in and say your check engine light is on, and they will check it for you. It's quick and free, and you'll probably get some information as to why your car is bucking. You can also take your car to the dealership to have them scan your car's computer for the trouble codes, but they will charge around $80 just to read the codes.

It may be possible the bucking problem and the overheating is related, but I doubt it. Your first course of action now should be to find out what codes your car's computer is throwing to cause the check engine light to be on. At least you'll be one step closer to fixing that issue.
Good luck!

Hi i have a nc24 , love the bike bt when idling it overheats and spills coolant out the overflow of the reserve coolant bottle, what would cause this?please help

Does your bike have a fan in front of the radiator? if so, check if it is working, also check the filler cap for the coolant, if faulty, it will cause the coolant to leak under pressure

Engine overheats and heater blowing cold air

You have air trapped in system , change thermostat , bleed air from system , let it run hot while adding coolant with blower full blast on all front and rear heaters .

I have a 1993 Passat VR6 that i was driving when it spilled the coolant out everywhere. I refilled it to find the leak and there is only a small one coming from somewhere but now the car is...

Sounds like the thermostat has failed and is stuck shut. Car overheats because coolant cannot get to engine due to stuck thermostat.

On the otherhand, you could have damaged the engine (i.e. cracked block, head, etc) when it overheated and "spilled coolant out everywhere". Suggest you take it to a reputable mechanic that you trust.

Whats happening if the radiator fan doesn't come on when the engine runs.

The fan may be bad, or the fuse may be blown, or the fusible link may be blown, or the relay is bad.

In any of the above cases, the car will overheat when the electric fan doesn't operate to cool the coolant/antifreeze down in the radiator.

MY 2000 VW Passat Temperature Gauge rises to 90 but doesn't go above when the car overheats. What could be the problem?

faulty temperature sensor locate it going into the block and replace its located on the block itself usually drivers side or in the front has 1 wire coming out from it ...as far as overheating is concerned does the fan relay kick in and possibly you need the thermostat changed or is there enough radiator coolant in the radiator .

1991 vw passat 9A 16v 2l B Charging and instrument cluster problem One day car did not start-turn key and nothing at all.(no power to inst. cluster no turning, nothing) One hour later it did turned on and cranked. and run fine. Next day repeated.Battery was dead. When jumped jumper cable melted. The alternator was shorting. Replaced battery and alternator. But alternator is not charging.Alternator tested as good.Replaced anyway, for another alternator that also tested as good just for the heck of it. Still not charging and whole instrument cluster and radio have no power from the very first replacement repair till now. Car will run just fine with out other el. problems as far the battery have charge above 6-7 v. I checked fuses in fuse/relay panel.Did not see any fuse burned. Is there fusible link on charging system or other fuse or relays to check besides the ones on the fuse/relay panel? I there relay that control this? I know that is grounded good. I know that is connected to + battery good. Alt+battery good. There is small blue wire running from alternator?????? called the alt. control wire. I think is says d+ or something on the alt.terminal next to it. It seems that something prevents the alternator to output power. I measured the alt. terminal + and ground when connected and running and all I read is the battery voltage dropping. I think the blue small wire and instrument cluster are close connection to this problem. Unless there is fuse or relay that I missed to check. other possibilities- ECU. -Wiring harness. First- where is all the fuses? and relays to check? fusible links? second -what is the blue wire ? third-instrument cluster involved? keep in mind that everything works besides inst cluster and charging when battery have charge above 6-7v. This car have disconnected and missing ABS and Security . Run grate for about a year till this happened. Rebuilded engine....Clean well maintained.. u4davidatgmaildotcom
