didnt specify vehicle---generic answer flywheel is located bolted to rear of engine and is sandwiched between the rear of engine and transmission the starter is bolted usually towards bottom corner at rear or side of engine Starter enginestarter flywheel diagram Yahoo Video Search Results these links show various starter/flywheel locations
fly wheel wont change ,the crank position sensor picks up a magnetic puls created when the motor spins past the(CPS) and that reads that the motor is spinning
this happens when the flywheel is out of balance. Check that the mount area is clean and free of burrs on the crank shaft. Ensure that the threads in the crank shaft are burr free. ensure that if a dowel is used to locate the flywheel that it is in place . Use the fly wheel bolts once on;y. Use a low strength loc-tite compound on the bolt threads and tighten to specified tension (normally around 90-100ft/lbs.) use a tension wrench for this.. Next pay attention to the clutch pressure plate and that it is being held in place by the correct bolts . Small shanks that act as dowels to locate the plate exactly in position. Use locating dowels if there is holes in the flywheel for them . clamp a flat bar to thye engine flange and place it at the circumference of the flywheel and turn the engine over and see if it hits the bar in one spot or is the same distance away all the way around . Adjust the space till there is virtually no clearance under the bar. Then place the bar on the face of the flywheel and see if the flywheel is wobbling against the bar .You can use a dial indicator for these to teats .
Part of the clutch, it is bolted to the flywheel. The clutch disc is sandwiched between the pressure plate and the flywheel. Once the transmission or transaxle is removed, the pressure plate is evident on the flywheel.
Hi Snale, The bearing is located inthe center of the fly wheel. To gain acsess means removing the gearbox, clutch assembly and flywheel. Gain access from the back of the flywheel. Tap out the failed bearing, fit in the replacement and refit the flywheel. Make sure to torque the fly wheel bolts to the required specs. This is a major undertaking and even though the bearing is very small the job is very big. Regards John
