Have a nose from lower part of the engine. I have changed the oil pump and pick up tube

Notorious .... your prob too late with the pump and pipe. vw now recommend a flush with each oil change which helps.sorry and I hope I am wrong..

Ok I have a 1995 ford aspire im trying to figure out how to replace the oil pump


Disconnect the motor mounts and jack the engine to remove the oil pan. Remove the oil pan, replace the oil pump you'll find at the end of a pick up tube, replace the pump and put the pick up tube back on the new pump making sure it's in the same low position it was when removed, replace the oil pan gasket and put the oil pan back on, lower the engine and put the motor mount bolts back in. Put in the proper amount of oil and go.

Hi there:

  1. Drain the cooling system.


CAUTIONWhen draining the coolant, keep in mind that cats and dogs are attracted by ethylene glycol antifreeze and are quite likely to drink any that is left in an uncovered container or in puddles on the ground. This will prove fatal in sufficient quantity. Always drain the coolant into a sealable container. Coolant should be reused unless it is contaminated or several years old.
  1. Remove the bolts attaching the fan shroud to the radiator and position the shroud over the fan.
  2. Remove the upper intake manifold and throttle body (see Fuel System ).
  3. Remove the nuts and lockwashers attaching the engine support insulators to the chassis bracket.
  4. If equipped with an automatic transmission, disconnect the oil cooler line at the left side of the radiator.
  5. Remove the exhaust system.
  6. Raise the engine and place wood blocks under the engine supports.
  7. Drain the crankcase.


CAUTIONThe EPA warns that prolonged contact with used engine oil may cause a number of skin disorders, including cancer! You should make every effort to minimize your exposure to used engine oil. Protective gloves should be worn when changing the oil. Wash your hands and any other exposed skin areas as soon as possible after exposure to used engine oil. Soap and water, or waterless hand cleaner should be used.
  1. Support the transmission with a floor jack and remove the transmission crossmember.
  2. Remove the oil pan attaching bolts and lower the oil pan onto the crossmember.
  3. Remove the two bolts attaching the oil pump pickup tube to the oil pump. Remove the nut attaching the oil pump pickup tube to the No. 3 main bearing cap stud. Lower the pickup tube and screen into the oil pan.
  4. Remove the oil pan from the vehicle.

To install:
  1. Clean the oil pan, inlet tube and gasket surfaces. Inspect the gasket sealing surface for damages and distortion due to overtightening of the bolts. Repair and straighten as required.
  2. Position a new oil pan gasket and seal to the cylinder block.
  3. Position the oil pick-up tube and screen to the oil pump and install the lower attaching bolt and gasket loosely. Install nut attaching to number 3 main bearing cap stud.
  4. Place the oil pan on the crossmember. Install the upper pick-up tube bolt. Tighten the pick-up tube bolts.
  5. Position the oil pan to the cylinder block and install the attaching bolts. Tighten to 10-12 ft. lbs. (13-16 Nm).
  6. Install the transmission crossmember.
  7. Raise the engine and remove the blocks under the engine supports. Bolt the engine to the supports.
  8. Install the exhaust system.
  9. If equipped with an automatic transmission, connect the oil cooler line at the left side of the radiator.
  10. Install the nuts and lockwashers attaching the engine support insulators to the chassis bracket.
  11. Install the upper intake manifold and throttle body (see Fuel System ).
  12. Install the fan shroud.
  13. Fill the crankcase.
  14. Fill and bleed the cooling system.

My oil light started blinking. temp has not increased and there is plenty of oil in engine


Possible problems are bad oil pressure switch "OPU", blocked oil pick up tube or screen, or oil pump.

Start from the easier fix.
Change the oil pressure switch
Clean the oil pick up tube and screen in the sump.
Change oil pump.

Oil pressure low light, how do you change the oil pump or clean the pickup tube on a 2001 vw passat?


these cars suffer from oil pump problems and sludging of the oil. its probably going to be an engine out job as youll need the sump removed to get to the oil pump and pick up pipe. theres not a lot of room you might be lucky and just raise the engine enough but theres quite a lot to remove from the engine to do the job. hope this helps

2004 tdi 4 motion dosnt start and says low oil preasure on the desh


If this is correct then your situation is more serious than you think. Think of it as your blood pressure, that's not good is it? Check your oil level with the orange dip stick. If your oil is at the top of knurled part of the stick it will tell you at least you have some oil in there, it should be lower once the pump is operating.
If it's way below the stick, this will tell you oil is below the level where the oil pump pick-up is at. The pump is not able to pick up oil from the oil pan and starving your engine which could end in a very expensive disaster.
If your level is fine and it does this, then you may have a
  1. Oil pump faulty
  2. Oil filter very dirty
  3. Oil filter faulty
  4. Loosing oil pressure due to internal system blocked or leaking externally or internally
The procedure for diagnosing oil pressure problem is using an analog oil pressure gauge connected to service ports from both the bottom and the top end of the engine. Without running the engine, a tool to turn the oil pump manually and pressurize the system while reading the gauge data.

One thing for sure.....DO NOT START YOUR ENGINE UNTIL YOU ARE SURE YOU HAVE OIL PRESSURE!
Doing so will damage your internal moving parts and may seize the engine from oil starvation.

I have a leak from the oil pan ...of my 1992 mercury topaz and im needing to know what all i will need to do to repair it


You didn't list your engine size so please pick the approriate task:

2.0L Engine
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Raise the vehicle and support safely with jackstands.
  3. Drain the crankcase of oil.
  4. Remove the attaching bolts securing the oil pan to the engine.
  5. Clean the oil and gasket mating surface completely, and allow to dry.
To install:
  1. Apply a 1/8 in. (3.18mm) bead of silicone sealer D6AZ-19562-B or equivalent between the oil pan and engine crankcase.
  2. Install the oil pan using the attaching bolts. Torque bolt to 5-7 ft. lbs. (7-10 Nm).
  3. Lower vehicle, and fill crankcase with correct amount of engine oil.
  4. Start engine and check for leaks.

2.3L Engine
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Raise the vehicle and support safely with jackstands.
  3. Drain the crankcase of oil, and drain the cooling system by removing the lower radiator hose.

This will prove fatal in sufficient quantity. Always drain the coolant into a sealable container. Coolant should be reused unless it is contaminated or several years old.
  1. Remove the roll restrictor if equipped with a manual transaxle.
  2. Disconnect the starter cable.
  3. Remove the starter from the vehicle
  4. Unfasten the bolts securing the rear oil pan to the transaxle case.
  5. If equipped with a manual transaxle, remove the secondary air injection tube at the check valve.
  6. Remove the heater supply tube located at the lower water pump inlet tube assembly.
  7. Loosen the bolts and remove the brackets at the block and water pump inlet tube and A/C compressor line at the pan.
  8. Using a prybar between the engine and body of car, flex engine enough the remove oil pan.
  9. Clean the oil and gasket mating surface completely, and allow to dry.
  10. Clean both mating surfaces of oil pan and cylinder block making certain all traces of RTV sealant are removed. Ensure that the block rails, front cover and rear cover retainer are also clean.
  11. Remove and clean oil pump pick-up tube and screen assembly. After cleaning, install tube and screen assembly.
To install:
  1. Apply a bead of RTV E8AZ-19562-A sealer or equivalent, in the oil pan groove. Completely fill oil pan groove with sealer. Sealer bead should be 0.200 in. (5mm) wide and 0.080-0.150 in. (2.0-3.8mm) high (above oil pan surface) in all areas except the half-rounds. The half-rounds should have a bead 0.200 in. (5mm) wide and 0.150-0.200 in. (3.8-5.1mm) high, above the oil pan surface.
Applying RTV in excess of the specified amount will not improve the sealing of the oil pan, and could cause the oil pickup screen to become clogged with sealer. Use ad equate ventilation when applying sealer.
  1. Install oil pan to cylinder block within 5 minutes to prevent skinning over. RTV needs to cure completely before coming in contact with any engine oil. Ideally, about 1 hour at ambient temperature between 65-75°F (18-24°C) is recommended as a drying time.
  2. Install oil pan bolts lightly until the 2 oil pan-to-transmission bolts can be installed.
  3. Install 2 oil pan-to-transaxle bolts. Tighten to 30-39 ft. lbs. (40-54 Nm) to align oil pan with transaxle. Loosen bolts 1/2 turn.
  4. Tighten all oil pan flange bolts to 15-22 ft. lbs. (20-30 Nm).
  5. Tighten 2 oil pan-to-transmission bolts to 30-39 ft. lbs. (40-54 Nm).
  6. Install brackets for A/C compressor line and water pump inlet tube.
  7. If equipped with a manual transaxle, fasten the air injection tube.
  8. Install the starter and cable.
  9. Lower vehicle.
  10. Install engine oil and coolant.
  11. Connect the negative battery cable.
  12. Start engine and check for coolant and oil leaks.

IN-VEHICLE SERVICE Oil Pan/Oil Pump Screen Cover and Tube Removal
  1. Disconnect battery ground cable (14301).
  1. Remove air cleaner outlet tube (9B659). Refer to Section 03-12 .
  1. Remove two bolts retaining radiator upper sight shield (8C291) and position radiator upper sight shield aside.
  1. Remove hood weather seal.
  1. Remove windshield wipers.
  1. Remove LH cowl vent screen and wiper module.
  1. Install Three Bar Engine Support D88L-6000-A or equivalent.
  1. Raise vehicle on a hoist. Refer to Section 00-02 .
  1. Remove front engine support insulator through-bolts.
  1. Partially lower vehicle.
  1. Raise engine and support with Three Bar Engine Support D88L-6000-A or equivalent.
  1. Raise vehicle.
  1. Remove starter motor (11002).
  1. Position drain pan.
  1. Drain engine oil.
  1. Remove oil bypass filter (6714).
  1. Remove starter motor wire, ground strap and automatic transmission oil cooler lines.
  1. Remove oil pan-to-bell housing bolts and bolts at crankshaft position sensor lower shield.
  1. Remove remaining oil pan retaining bolts.
  1. Remove steering shaft pinch bolt and separate steering shaft.
  1. Position transmission jack under front sub-frame (5C145).
  1. Remove six rearward bolts on front sub-frame. Loosen two forward front sub-frame bolts.
  1. Remove lower shock absorber-to-front suspension lower arm bolts and nuts (both sides).
  1. Lower front sub-frame.
  1. Remove oil pan (6675).
  1. Empty any residual oil from oil pan.
  1. Remove oil pump screen cover and tube retainer bolts and support bracket nut. Remove oil pump screen cover and tube (6622) and discard oil pump inlet tube gasket (6626).

I would check the oil pressure sensor and the oil pump itself. You can take the sensor out and use a mechanical gauge to check the oil pressure. If the oil pressure is within specs, you need a new sensor, if not, you need a new pump.

remove the oil pan. remove the oil pick - up tube-to -main bearing cap nut. remove the oil pump pick-up tube mounting bolts. remove the oil pump mounting bolts and lower th eoil pump assembly. If the pump is faulty, or you suspect that it's faulty, install a new one- do not attempt to repair the orginal. The oil pump hex driveshaft will come out with the pump . Examine the ends for wear,"Caution": If this shaft breaks, serious engine damage can result. If it looks worn, replace it.
