How to repair P0125 for 2000 Mercury Mountaineer

P0125 OBD-II Trouble Code Technical Description Insufficient Coolant Temperature For Closed Loop Fuel Control What does that mean? This means that the engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor indicates that the engine has not reached the required temperature level to enter closed-loop operation within a specified amount of time after starting the engine. Symptoms You will likely not notice any drivability problems. Causes A code P0125 may mean that one or more of the following has happened: Insufficient warm up time Low engine coolant level Leaking or stuck open thermostat Faulty coolant temperature sensor Possible Solutions The simplest thing to do is to reset the code and see if it comes back. If the code comes back, the problem is likely going to be the result of the above causes (faulty thermostat, faulty ECT sensor, or a low coolant level). What causes po102 suzuki code

-Air flow sensor might be too dirty or bad connection. Try clean it then erase the code to see it will come back on about 20-40 mile. If not come back at all then the problem is solved.
-If it come back about 20-40 mile then possibly the sensor need to be replaces well.

Check engine light came on and the code was 0128 ect sensor below themostat regulating temperature. how do i fix it?

A code P0128 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:

Low engine coolant level.
Leaking or stuck open thermostat.
Faulty cooling fan (running too much).
Faulty coolant temperature (ECT) sensor.
Faulty intake air temperature (IAT) sensor.

90% of the time it is the thermostat. I just replaced the thermo on my 2004 TB, it was giving the same code. You can still drive it with the problem and the ses light may come and go, but the problem will not go away--in the meantime, your mpg will drop significantly because the PCM will try to compensate for the low coolant temp. I gained 2-3 mpg easily after I replaced mine. It's a good idea to also replace the ECT at the same time, both the ECT and thermo require removal of the alternator to replace them and the ECT is right above the thermo.

No code will tell you about coolant levels
or thermostat
In fact, codes do not tell you anything is wrong

They direct you to one of the vehicles systems,
that has a sensor out of range.

Then you have to component test,to find out
why the code was set

What code is there now?
Who is diagnosing the vehicle?

I think you missed the issue and changed the etc sensor

It's no surprise that your mileage was affected, damage to the ECT sensor will affect proper operation of the fuel injection system.

Oil CAP Not placed after Oil Change by CARx Engn Light on P0171

Well an engine vacuum leak can cause the P0171 code to come on and having an oil cap missing is a vacuum leak. The first response for this code is to replace the O2 sensor because that is what the code is for...bad O2 sensor reading. Now too much air from a vacuum leak can cause a lean condition in the exhaust. If they are going to replace the O2 sensor for free then let them..If you trust them to replace it. It is possible that the lean condition could have damaged the O2 sensor. You may find that after a few days of driving with the cap back on the check engine light might go back off. I do not think anaything would be permanently damaged as long as the oil level did not get too low and nothing got into the engine thru the open hole in the valve cover. Does the car seem to be running ok? No overheating, miss, ect.
