I've just bought a GOLF 4, 1.6se 8v, 2000 reg MODEL. This car has 61000 on the clock and was just serviced, according to the service history at 60 000. When i turn the ignition, the awaiting service light comes on. This goes off when i drive. Does this mean anything?? could it be related to oil, water shortage?
Hi.
If it was serviced by a garage without VAG diagnostic software they may have been unable to reset the service interval warning.Or maybe they just forgot.
I doubt, (but I'm not 100% sure) that it means anything other than what it says. For the cost of an interface cable - about £15 -and the use of a laptop computer you can run free VAG diagnostic and reset it yourself. And check a zillion other things.
If you are worried, just open the bonnet / hood and check the oil and water the old fashioned way :-)
If these suggestions do help you solve the problem, please give my reply a rating to help others judge my knowledge / guessing skills. If they do not, please add a comment with more details so I can try to help you further.
Cheers, D
