Vaccumn leak in breaking system

I have a hissing sound coming from behind/below steering wheel. Stops
going uphill, decreases in sound when hits brakes. Closest volvo dealership
is 55 miles. Is this an unusual problem for a 2001, and is it safe to drive to
dealership. Going on 2 weeks, and getting louder.

Yes it is just a vaccum line, take it in and they can replace the line.

Your Brake Booster is bad. It's quite common on this year/model. It's safe to drive, just call ahead to the dealer and make sure they have the part first, or you can even buy one online for possibly a better price.

Remove steering wheel lock 1985 chevy celebrity v6

no problem...you take off the cover in the middle of the steering wheel being able to access the bolt to remove the steering wheel. If you don\'t have a steering wheel puller you can rent one from a auto parts store but i just leave the steering wheel bolt on a few threads and hit it with a hammer pulling back on the steering wheel. It should come off after 4 or 5 hits. then take out the blinker assembly (couple phillip screws). So

now you have access to the pin. If you can\'t get that pin out with a needle nose or plan on putting it back in then you\'ll have to dig in deeper. There ya go for the short versioin. Don\'t listen to people when they say jerk the wheel really hard to break that pin, you;ll just end up breaking other things and don\'t think ya need that. but taking out that pin wont do anything (the only thing behind it is a spring) Good luck.

My 1992 Jeep wrangler has a hissing noise coming from the back of the steering column and is having trouble shifting

Normally a hissing noise when the engine is running is a vac leak.
I'm not aware of anything behind the speedo that would be affected but you might check for vac hoses. Might be the power brake booster leaking vac but that is in the engine compartment.

When a steering wheel is turned to the end of its travel, the power steering pump makes an objectionable hiss. But my Stratus makes this noise when I turn the wheel at center when fluid is cold....

early sign of the rack and pinion going bad if you look inside the inner tie rod boots you will see leaks starting. prepare to have it replaced sooner than later.

How do I get the door to the ac to close so air can blow thru front outlets

Morning Guest,
You will need to remove your Dashboard as well as other devices and find why your vaccumn system is NOT working
After the Dash is disaseembled, turn on engine... listen for a hisssing sound. You may also remove the vaccumn line and see if there is hissing. There could be a line off under the hood
Your heating/AC is a Vaccuumn controlled system.
If you have a leak or a blockage (pinched tubing) your system will not work.
It is rare, but I found that the controller is actually the cause of the malfunction

Engine is making hissing sound.

That hissing could be a vaccuum system leak, have youe tried pinpointing the sound from under the hood?
