The heat in our 1998 continetal doesn't work. We replaced our thermostat. Still on heat. The a/c works fine. The vehicle run fine without any sign of over heating. We can't undrestand why the car's heating will not work. Could it be the fuse or something else minor that we're over looking?

There is possibly air trapped in you heater core, or your heater control valve is stuck close. There could also be a clogg in the heater core. try applying vacuum to the cooling system to evacuate the trapped air. Also try disconnecting the heater outlet hose and starting the car. If fluid shoots out from the heater core there is no clog.

Two possible reasons, one is that your heat control valve that directs hot coolant to the heater core may be stuck or blocked. Two, you may have an airlock in the heater core that prevents water getting in to the heater core. You need to let the air out by loosening the upper most hose that feeds the heater core.

I have a 2003 aztek its over heating on shot drives i think its the radiator cap. when i put a piece of rag in it it works fine until the rag gets wet.

I don't think it's the radiator cap. I'd just replace the thermostat and see if that resolves the problem. you can also remove the thermostat just to see if it still runs hot.

if it runs hot with a new thermostat or without one, then have the engine professionally flushed. this is a pressurized flush.

without more information on mileage or vehicle, thats the best place to start on this issue.

It sounds like the system is fried. Based on the description, it is just pulling in the outside air and not doing anything to heat or cool the flow. Unfortunately, this is a job for your preferred mechanic.

No heat

I would by checking coolant level. If your too low u won't have enough to circulate. after that u r looking at a thermostat or water pump.i would pull the thermostat and then put it back together and run it. now remember without it the coolant should circulate all the time so u will want to replace it so your fluid will reach the optimum temperature, but if u get a little heat with it out u know that was the problem. if thats not it u will want to run vehicle with radiator cap off . u will be able to see if fluid is moving. make sure u have thermostat out or u really dont know which one it is

Heater stop working. blower still works no heat.

check the coolant level in the rad, then check both heater hoses when the truck is warmed up they should be the same temperature if not then the heater core is plugged.you can try running/soaking the heater core with CLR to try to unplug it.if it doesn`t work then it will have to be replaced.also the thermostat may need replacing.

2000 dodge caravan running hot

This could be from many things.

Thermostat
Low coolant
Head gasket
Temp sending unit

Most common is the thermostat, simply change and see if it worked. Second , but first before I change the thermostat make sure your coolant is full and if it is not too dirty. Also make sure the water pump is in working order. Are you getting heat? If so the pump probally is fine as it is circulating water to the heater core. When running the vehicle does it have a thick white cloud of smoke and does it smell like antifreeze, also check to see if there is water draining from the tail pipe. These are signs of a blown head gasket. Is the vehicle truly overheating or is it the sending temp unit? This can give a faulse reading to make it seem the vehicle is over heating if the sending unit is bad.

Good Luck!

The heater in my 1998 ford Taurus does not produce heat. the air works, but the heat does not.

Chances are your heater core is plugged up from a dirty cooling system. You need to have a flush and fill and replace your thermostat. Your AC will run fine because it is independent of your cooling system.
Another thing to do is buy a Haynes or Clinton's repair shop manual at your local AP store for your particular vehicle. Then read up on it in the trouble shooting section or the step by step RR section. You can purchase these at your local Auto Parts store or buy them on line at ebay burdfrenzy
