Check the duct from heater box up to vent outlet.

I am willing to bet money that your WATER PUMP IMPELLER is Corroded and Eaten away to nearly Nothing. If you believe your Thermostat is working properly then I would expect the Water Pump.

I had this same thing happen to one of my Customer's who had a 2002-2003 V-8 and kept the "DEXCOOL" in their car....

If you are running Dexcool, convert it over to the GREEN....

If you know for a fact the compressor is running and one of the lines is cold, I would look for a blend door problem. The blend doors direct air thru the heater and evaporator.

Top up Fluid level in over flow tank and radiator ( when cold ). Run engine to normall operating temperature and check for heater blowing hot air.Good starting point.

First thing i would check is the coolant level. It's probably too low, and anything that should be in the heater core, is going down to the engine when it's running at low rpm.

Look like you may have an air lock.
Put the car on level ground, start it from cold with the coolant filler cap off, have plenty of warm/hot water available.
Leave to idle watch the coolant filler area but NOT TOO CLOSE, when at operating temp it may appear to boil over loads of bubbles, gurgling and some steam, top the coolant system up with the warm water wait until things settle then replace cap you may have to do this a couple of times.
Remember your anti freeze?

could be vaccum leak in the a/c panel where the flappers open and close to allow hot and cold air to blow

Had the same problem with my Mazda6 awhile back. Took it to the dealer and they found the radiator wasn't holding pressure. They replaced the whole radiator under warranty (WHEW!). Not sure how to check for that kind of thing, but it's a start.
