I have had my 99 windstar since new. I have changed the back head twice. Once at 100000km and again now at 130000. I purchased all the parts from the ford dealer. I had to put a new rad in it at 25000 km and transmission at 650000km. Why is the same head giving me problems??? Thanks
When you removed the head the 1st time, did you send it in to the machine shop to have it surfaced and check for cracks? By having it surfaced, the machine shop makes to head's mounting surface perfectly flat. If you didn' have the head surfaced the 1st time, the head may have been warped causing the head gasket to fail the 2nd time.
Re-read my post. It's not the head gasket. Make sure you take the cylinder head in to a machine shop and have it surfaced so it's perfectly flat when you re-install it.Re-read my post. The filaments likely broke in the newly replaced bulbs. Replace them with LED type replacements, if your local parts store does not carry them, they can be ordered from Digikey, http://www.digikey.com
You may as well change the #5 Injector to start with. I imagine you rechecked the spark on that cylinder as well. Could be a cracked sparkplug too. Check routing of #5 Injector wire. If improperly placed it could pickup a pulse to inject from other cylinders and then fire constantly.
Most likely you broke loose carbon in the cylinder head when the plug was removed and then it blew carbon back to the Injector head, blocking it open.
try changing (1) the HT lead, you could substitute this with the old one, (2) the spark plug, again substitute this with one of the old ones, even tho they are new they can still be faulty,
It was a new head and gaskets from ford.
