Question about 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan
I have a 2006 grand caravan sxt 3.9 l.i never had problems with ity until now.i parked it in the garage for about an hour and when i was ready to make a run the key turns to start but the starter just clicks.i tightened the battery terminal posts and the starter and selinoid bolts .i even tap on the starter & selinoid with a hammer but this still didnot turn engine.could it be my selinoid is gone without a warning????
Be very careful when using the hammer technique to check your starter. Some of the starters have internal parts that can be damaged by the blow from the hammer.

Make sure all your terminals are clean. Take each one off and clean out any corrosion on both battery and cables with wire brush and water/baking soda mix.

Take your battery, and (if you don't mind pulling it) the starter to the local bigger name parts store to get tested. They will be able to tell you if they are ok, or not. IF the battery is dead, or has a dead cell, then go to SAMs, and buy an Optima red top battery. I swear by these batterys, and put them in all of my vehicles. My last one took 5 years, before showing any signs of voltage drop. If you do the math, the Optima battery is cheaper in the long run. Anyways, if you don't want to pull the starter, try hitting it one good time with a hammer, and try starting the van. If it starts, then you need a starter, because the internals are shot on your existing one. (not from the hammer hit) LOL
