ok more info... good.
ok , compression is #1 , no amount of spark or fuel makes a dead engine good. (the 120 is low x4 but i bet you didnt do it WOT like the
instructions stated. most cars can do 150 easy. , all my 1.6L do 180.
the reason i ask is the cam belt slips after 50miles and all 4 jugs
drop from 180 to 120 or lower. so did you block the throttle open.
my wild guess is compression really is good and the belt never slipped. yet. (interference engine they are) all of them
so backup and read my post, did you check spark yet.

1999 4cyl.2.4 engine.had the oil changed in morning.they checked all the fluids and all were fine.4pm drove about 20 mi.on highway and it overheated.let it cool off and added water.drove about 4 mi.needle...

The head may have cracked when it over heated. This are aluminum heads and crack fairly easily when they are hot. While you have the motor apart you might as well replace the water pump and Thermostat. The Thermostat is already removed at this point if you have the head pulled and the majority of the work that needs to be done to remove and replace the water pump is already done as well. Unfortunately, if that is the same motor they used in the 1999 Voyager and I do believe it is that water part is incorporated and hidden in and under the timing cover and the timing belt must be removed to replace it. It's not that much more work once the head is pulled but it is a little more complicated putting back together.,

Valve replacement, one of my pistons isn't firing, the spark plugs are good, and my timing belt just tore so i'm thinking it may be the valve but i don't know how to replace it.

pull the head and send it to a machine shop . have them c/k all the valves . this will keep you from doing it twice . do a compesion test on the engine before you tear it down . you should have 120 psi in a good cyl . if less then that you have a problem

Timing belt went out on 1999 hyundai elantra

hi from uk the elantra engine is an interferance engine that means that should the cambelt fail whilst engine running there is most likely the valves will come into contact with pistons result will be bent valves whichmeans cyl head off and new valves/head gasket/ timing belt and tensioner consider this ? if your engine has high milage but ran ok prior to this failure ? it will be worth repairs as above however best to remove cyl head and inspect damage 1st ? if only damage to valves usually 3 or 4 renew them all and reseat new h/gasket etc you will get good result so all depends on investigation of damage ?

Timing Belt broke while driving my 96 Toyota Rav4, 2 wheel drive. Mechanic said that Rav has a zero tolerance engine and engine will need to be replaced. The timing belt has 55,000 miles on it and we were...

Zero tolerance means the valves may have hit the piston when the timing belt broke. I would suggest doing a cylinder leakage test to see if the valves are bent or not. If the valves are not bent then you can replace the belt and everything will be ok. If there are bent valves then the cylinder heads will need to be removed and repaired.

2001 Toyota camry 2.2 L 4 cyl engine timming belt replacement

The 2001 Camry 2.2 has a timing belt.
Recommended change interval is 90,000 miles.
There is no good reason for putting the replacement off, as the belt may be stretched slightly when it nears the rec replace interval, and your mileage may suffer because the engine is not in proper "time".
If the belt jumps time or breaks, it will NOT damage the valves.
