Question about 1995 Volkswagen Golf

1 Answer

Lots of gas

I have a 1995 golf gl..last Sunday I was driving during the day and the car was fine..that Sunday night it stalled (could smell something burning prior to), it started right away but now runs and idles erratically.. I have run the OBD 2 diagnostics and the following faults came up:

  • cam sensor
  • IAC Controller
I have replaced the following:
  • Distributer and cam sensor
  • injectors (all 4)
  • Ignition coil
  • all 4 spark plugs
  • air temp sensor
  • cpu
We further tested the injectors individually while the key was turned to on:
3 & 4 injectors appear to be working fine
1 isn't working at all
2 is dumping fuel into the cylinder
Raw gasoline is running straight through the exhaust and is dripping onto the ground.

I don't want to scrap the car as it is in great shape, but I don't want tpo spend another 3000.00 with hit and miss replacement parts

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Bill

I think that the problem comes from the alternator.

I have a VW Golf mk3 1995 GTI 16V but it has a weird iddleing whenever I have just started it. When I press the gas pedal more and increase the revs, it gets well. Otherwise if I happen to drive straight...

thats because the car is not at operating temperature.you will get a slight drop in power and drivability until its warm.do not try to use any more than 1/3rd gas pedal until its warm anyway.your car has an automatic cold start device (choke)that operates when the car is cold.

you need two things fuel and fire. Check for spark, and remove the fuel filter your gas might have frozen, with all this ethanol **** your getting corn whiskey whitelightning, moonshine its mostly water. water freezes even if surrounded by gas especially when it gets that cold hope this helps.
