Question about 2001 Ford Focus

1 Answer

Ford focas turbo disel replacement

I was driving down the motor way when I noticed a lot of smoke coming from the exhaust, I pulled on to the hard shoulder and tried to switch off the engine. I took the keys out but the engine kept going at high speed with smoke still coming out of the exhaust. I manged to stop the car by stalling it, can any one tell me why it would keep runing with out the keys in and do you think it is just the turbo gone or do I need a new engine. Thanks

Either engine has too much oil or turbo bearings gone and it was running on the engine oil being sucked through the turbo.frightening experience and good job you had mind to stall engine before it blew itself up

Ford funison 1.4 tdci black smoke

Hello
The engine and automatic transmission in this vehicles drive train are fully electronically controlled by a computer called the PCM and TCM (Power Train Control Module, Transmission Control Module). When a problem like this or other drive-ability related problems occurs the computer stores a record of the problem (there are of course some exceptions to this, like the fuel pump, engine coolant temperature sensor and MAF sensor for instance) in the form of a fault code in its memory, to read these fault codes you must have the systems memory scanned with a special tool. Once the fault code(s) are read you then must perform the appropriate diagnostic testing to find and resolve the problem(s) DO NOT REPLACE ANY PARTS UNTIL A TRAINED TECHNICAIN HAS DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM TO AVOID SPENDING YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY ON PARTS THAT MAY NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM

I have a ford f250 1982 v6 but it smokes alot from muffler how can i fix that?

Does it blows white smoke ? And have you noticed oil in the end of exhaust pipe. If so remove the intake from turbo and check the shaft movement, and rebuilt your turbo. This http://www.turbochargerpros.com/repair/ford-turbo-repair.htm helps to repair your Ford turbo. If it is black smoke, you must replace your Fuel Pressure Regulator.

Suddenly lose turbo power black smoke comes out exhaust

Turbo is bad, when you start seeing black exhaust turbo has gone out completely. Depending on how old the turbo is and how hard it is driven, how many miles and so forth.

My 04 VW Jetta blew thick white smoke from tailpipe after freeway drive. No indicator lights came on, all oil leaked out (after smoke started)... is this engine or could it be just the turbos? Right...

A new turbo charger is about $340, but you can buy the bearings and seals and rebuilt if yourself for about $100

It is not hard, and it does not take long to do.

I normally do not bother with synthetic, but with a turbo charger, it might be worth it. What really seems to ruin turbo chargers the most is not letting them cool off before parking.
Once you turn off the engine, there is no longer any cooling, so the build up heat will burn up the oil and seals.
Run the engine for at least 5 minutes below turbo levels, before shutting down the engine.

Hi, what does it mean when huge amounts of white smoke comes out of the exhaust? otherwise drives ok? it is a renault megane 1.5 dci 2004. regards catherine

Symptom: White smoke or water vapor from the exhaust. You notice white smoke coming from the exhaust when you start your car. If it is cold out, this may be normal. If the smoke does not disappear after the car is warmed, you have a problem. Possible causes:
  1. Transmission fluid may be entering the intake manifold through vacuum modulator.
    The Fix: Replace vacuum modulator
  2. Cylinder head gasket(s) may be bad.
The Fix: Replace cylinder head gasket(s).
  3. Cylinder head(s) may be warped or cracked.
The Fix: Resurface or replace cylinder heads. (Resurfacing is not a DIY job)
  4. The engine block may be cracked.
    The Fix: Replace engine block.

Excessive fuel smoke coming from my exhaust

Change fuel filter. I know it doesn't make sense. It seems like you're getting too much fuel, so the filter shouldn't be plugged. But that's how they act.

Turbo loud whistling and lots of smoke coming out of the exhaust

OK now what i am going to tell you, you need to listen to....
sounds like your turbo is on the way out and need to be repaired or replaced
if you continue driving the car the spool may snap and go into your motor and that will cost you a new motor
stop driving it...
if you need to don't push the car be soft
diesels are not a good car to push anyway
take it and get it fixed or you will be out of pocket for some time
i have had this happen here and it is not worth the damage
