Question about 1992 Chevrolet S-10
The key is stuck in the ignition and will not turn back all the way so I can remove it. I had to pop the hood and pull a dist. cap wire to shut the truck off. i ordered a new switch but need advice on how to replace it. My Haynes book shoews a different type of steering wheel. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you
You will need to remove the steering wheel. Then you will need to use a steering wheel lock remover to remove the lock plate. This can be purchased at most auto parts stores for 20 to 40 dollars. Next you should be able to remove the retaining screw in the ignition switch( be careful not to drop the screw in the colum housing). You may have to work the key back and forth to get the old switch out. Just repeat this process in reverse to install the new key switch.
