Question about 2002 Ford Taurus
I just purchased a 2002 taurus ses, I had a 99 that I liked that had no real problems, I just got it home and I noticed thtat it had a button with a KEY on the remote witch should indicate a remote start, well I am a mechanic for 20 years so its just like me to have the dash off 30 min after getting the car home, I see the added on FORD box that controls the alarm and remote start, I figured the relay was bad or a fuse but not so all checked fine, I am thinking that there are some wires crossed because there is no ignition kill, meaning even with alarm on the car still starts, if I had a diagram it would be great but cant locate one, any help would be great.
Security light is blink fast and the car want started

I'm sure you have figured out by now your remote start system is designed to start with the alarm armed. It's only after you insert the key and turn to the "run" position that the system will disarm. I also have a 02 Taurus SES with this option.
My remote system failed a couple of years ago and I was looking to replace the system. Thanks to Jim3401, I have found the solution to my problem.

A copy of the remote start installation manual is available on line.
Just a thought..put your key into the ignition but don't turn it. Try the remote start. If the car starts, tap the brake to shut it off. The problem is probably the 'key in' sensor, which consists of a band secured around the lock (remove the steering covers). The instructions for securing are in the manual.

I would suggest you obtain the install instructions from the dealer and check that it was wired into the system correctly. Another thought is that the remote needs to be programmed, that was a common issue when I worked for a Ford dealer.
