MY 1994 E320 climate control only works 1/2 of the time. First thing in the morning the a/c works great. After driving around and parking in the sun it only blows hot air. I have had the evaporator and some wiring replaced. No indy or dealer can find a problem when I take it in. One said the compressor was not "turning" for part of the time but could not figure out why since the problem is intermittent.
I think the problem is with the motor blower resistor,so try by changing that ,this will help you

Hey
your ac system machine is digital or analog setup?...the digital ones are really
tricky, the analog ones have cables that mechanically open and close
the vents, it could be possible that the cable is stuck in the "heat"
on position...if its digital i wouldn't advise you to mess with it...
its a headache... if its analog... open it up trace the cables see how
it works (or should work) find the problem...and save some money.

I would suggest replacing your blower motor resistor. If you go to the manufacturer they will be able to order the part for you. It may cost about $50. As long as you can get to the resistor replacement shouldn't be too difficult. //

Your ac system may be without hi and lo pressure guages. if theres a clog, that compressor can reach 450psi or more and blow somehting up.
you might have been hitting the high side limit and had the hi pressure switch cut the compressor off.

Check Temperature Control Vents - The vents inside your car are controlled by a cable, electrical servo or vacuum servo. If the vent door is not functioning properly it will cause warm air from the heater to exit the vents.
To check this start the car and allow the engine idle, next turn the blower motor speed on low, switch the temperature control from warm to cold while your ear is close to the vents.
You should hear the door move inside the heater box as it swings from open to close. If not, insect for a vacuum leak or a shorted motor in the servo, repair the leak or replace the servo motor.

With the AC, I wouldn't get in a hurry. You can rack up alot of money real quick trying to solve an intermittent problem with an AC system and not solve the problem at all. Be patient, and wait til the problem area goes completely, then you will know exactly what to replace.

This is a fairly longstanding problem - 4+ years now. It is difficult to live with in the 100 degree heat and a blk on blk car!
