Question about 2002 Oldsmobile Silhouette

2 Answers

Water Leak I have a 2002 Olds Silhouette. The floorboard is always wet. I've had it checked out and the guy tells me it has a crack that is allowing rain water to flow into the car. But where I live it hasn't rained in weeks and the floor is soaking wet. I remember driving a 1976 Ford pickup that had the same problem with the condensation coming off of the air conditioner. But he assured me that wasn't the problem. But I can't figure out where the water is coming from. Thanks for you help. Kurt

I have a 2000 that did the same thing. There is a small pipe that comes through the firewall to drain water from the air conditioner coil inside. The water comes out of that pipe and wicks back into the inside. They make a little extender to put on that pipe to take the water away. I fixed it by attaching a small hose to the pipe and putting a little goop around it where it comes through the fire wall.

Sounds like a leaking heater box to remove these the whole dash has to come out so if you dont want to pay for that labour can join the two inlet and outlet heater hoses in the engine bay going to the cabin

You have to trouble shoot a leaky door gasket or windshield seal, can be tricky. Go to a dealer and ask the service writer if there is a common leak point on the car, some of these guys can be very helpful. I had an Olds with this and it took a long time to find the leak from the windshield. If you put a hose on the area and use flashlight to look under/ behind the dash you might find the leak, good luck.

Water driver floorboard carpet

On older vehicles there may be rust in the floorpan, but likely the door weatherstripping gasket has shrunk or missing a piece, allowing water entry. Also check door alignment. Misaligned door would allow water in. Also check radiator fluid level as bad heater core will allow water and coolant to wet carpet.

Not sure if this will help, but my dad had a simialar problem with his minivan. As it turns out the drains under the windshield wipers were clogged with old leaves and debris and water couldn't drain out. Had it cleaned at a dealership for $20.
Good luck.

My 2002 Olds minivan is overheating. I changed thermostat and flushed radiator, bled the air from the air valves and changed the temp sending unit. It does not leak fluid and waterpump and belt are on...

My 02 silhouette just started having the same problem and I was told it was the head gasket. I was told mini vans with the 3.4 engine have this problem after a certain amount of miles. My brother has had this happen in 2 different vans with same engine. Hope this helps.

The passenger side floorboard gets wet =

is it only when the ac is on? there is a pan under the ac unit that has a hole in it to allow the condensation to empty. if that hole gets plugged it could cause the condensation to build up and back into the inside of that car. i unplugged mine and floor stayed dry

try having an assistant 'water'' your car with a garden hose while you're in it.especially check seals at windshield & doors.it could take a few minutes of ''watering'' before a leak shows up.

the ac drain is more than likley stopped up, they tend to get clogged with debri not allowing the condensation from the evap. core to drain properly, thus allowing it to leak into the floorboard.

Rear floorboard behind driver set wet after rain

do you have a sun roof, if so start there, because there are two hoses at the back corners of the roof pan that allow water to drain, if they leak, they will soak the rear floorboards, and if not that check the door jam seals.(note that if the plugs on the floor are missing that will be verry hard not to have wet carpet)........let me know?
