1988 chevy corvette headlight repair

Our 88 corvette pop up light would go up then back down so my husbund took it apart and he broke on of the tiny brushes he didn't realize he just needed to replace the bushes but now purchased new tiny brushes but can't get them to stay in.

Attach a string around the copper wire attached to the brush, place the brush back in the slot and pull both ends of the string out the side of the motor and tape securely, do the same with the other side. Work quickly before the tape lets go of the string.

My 1988 Corvette headlights willl come up occasionally and then slowly go down again. What is the problem?

There is a silicone gel in the headlight system that acts as a drive between 2 gears. The fix is very inexpensive but the labor is pretty intense. almost all corvette supply places sell pellets that replace the gel which has more then likely dried out over the years. The only reason I can think of is the gel is used in case the headlight is frozen up or down the gears won't strip. On the headlight assembly you'll see a round area about 2 inches across held on by 3 screws. When you remove the cover you'll seee a gear inside. When you pull the gear out you'll see the area where the gel used to be. There will probably be dried up powder inside. You'll see 3 indentions in the back side of the gear where you place the 3 pellets. Keep one headlight assembled so you can see how to put it back together. I actually bought the pellets from a guy on ebay for less the $10.00. I had to sand the pellets down a little to get them to fit into the gear but it actually worked great

The ring on my ignition broke on my 1988 F150 long story short let some one fix it and they took it all apart so I START IT WITH THE LITTLE metal L shaped part... I need to know get a new column or repair...

If somone has taken the column apart there's a good chance there may be some small parts missing or broken. I recommend a trip to the local salvage yard for a used column. On a 88 ford you
should be able to pick one up for 50-$75, be sure to save you're old key's for the door locks.
Hope this helps.

1978 corvette when i shut the car off my head lights pop up. i can start the car and they go down and stay down. got any ideas

Those are vacuum actuated headlights and the vacuum leaks down when the engine is off. Probably have a leak in the headlight actuators, will need to replace or rebuild one or both of them, not a big problem for them to pop up some people just do not like for them to pop up while parked.

Check to see if there is a headlight relay and check all ground circuits to the lighting system. They are both powered from the same circuit.

88 frd trk dies when it gets hot

That part is called a "fuel inertia cutoff relay". It's there in case of a collision.............and cuts off the flow of gas. Sometimes it will pop up after hitting a large bump or jarring motion, while driving. Not B.S.
