You may have to take off a plastic cover or engine cover to get at them. Usually on most 1.8 liter suzuki engines they are coil on plug ignition. Usually they have two 10mm or 12mm (has been a while since the last one) they should look like little black boxes on top the engine. first things first un-hook battery black or - cable. If not little black boxes (pretty sure they generally are). Each little black box is a coil. (6 coils on v-6 4 coils on 4cylinder) At the bottom of each coil you will have either a plug wire, which is what I would start with (coils can get to be alot of $$) they may be 1 unit but I think they may be seperate. Just be gental. Un hook the bad coil from the conector usually latched at top may use small flat head screw driver to assit if changing all do 1 by one and DON'T!!! change where the clips go keep each one on the same hole it came out of. I would also invest in new plugs which are easy to replace, with a socket wrench and the right socket I recommend Denso plugs noo need to go fancy just oe equipment. just make sure to get them tight but not to tight. But the black (maybe greenish) box is what the coil is and what needs to be replaced shouldn't take too long to do I've got alot of time in on the job (auto tech). tighten the bolts down about how you tight you took them out at they are plastic. Put everything back the way it was take notes if needed. and hook the black (ground or - cable back up) and start

I have a suzuki sidekick sport 1998 1.8 runs on high idle 1200 rpms

Check for a vacuum leak. A broken or loose connection. Short of that, it is probably your idle air control valve.

Suzuki sidekick 1997 Sport 1.8 liter manual transmission AC power steering. Will start intermittently.

Have you checked coil/coils. Some Suzuki have two coils. When it is on way out it will start itermittenly until finally it won't start at all. Can go on for sometime doing this. I believe coil relays power to starter. Coil
fault often attributed to starter in correctly. Hope this helps.

Misses only when wet, but this 1.8 has no spark plug wires?? its a1997 susuki sport,, where do i look?

it has on plug coils you need to remove the coils to find the spark plug boots the spark plug bosses may be filled with water or even oil,if their is oil in the plug boss holes your valve cover is leaking the oil into the holes.

I have a 1.8 1998 suzuki sport sidekick jlx. It failed emission testing. Replaced the mass air flow sensor, throttle position sensor, coils and spark plugs. The check engine light still comes on and it...

hi,
spark plug wires, fuel filter, air filter, or fuel pump might be getting ready to go. maybe a vacuum leak, hook it up to a vacuum gauge and see if the needle is steady, or take it to autozone and have them run a OBD test. I think its free at autozone.

I have solved this by raising the parking brake lever by one click, this does not engage the parking brake but trips the switch and makes the lights go off.
