There is a with box under the steering column. that needs to be adjusted in order for the reverse lights to work. put in r with wheel chucks and e brake on and adjust it!

Why does my 94 dodge stealth 5 speed tranny lock up in reverse, car will not move and I can't get it back out of reverse, when I jack the front end up it releases from reverse

This sounds like you may have a problem with the shift linkage and when you jack up the car it is taking the pressure off of linkage and frees it up, I am not for sure but some have adjustments that can be made to fix the problem. If that's not the problem then you may have a problem with the trans itself. If you can get to the trans you could unhook the linkage and try shifting the trans with the conectors coming from the trans.

Why wont the cruise control work on a 2005 ford taurus but the cruise light comes on

The first thing to check is the tail lights. The cruise control will not work if any lights are out. Changing to LED tail lights also causes the cruise to not work.

Back up lights not working

you didnt check the BACK fuse?>

all cars the method is the same,
its just a switch.
that switch closes and the lamps glow. super simple , like a flash light.
we use this dirt cheap tool , sold at walfart for $10
back in late 60s it was $1000 in todays dollars. you are blessed today.
its called a DMM.
turn dial to volts.
check volts at the lamp in reverse.
0v, bad.
12v good, bad lamps, bad ground to lamps.
6v( not 12) is shorted line. or corrosion in line.
lets pretend its 0v. in reverse.
i got to the 5speed, rev. switch .
I have 12vcd one side, (if not the fuse is blown or wire bad)
i have 0v out.
the switch is bad.
that easy,

Back up light wont work where is my back up light switch located

M/T on Tranny
A/T on Tranny,
if car is A/T its in the PRNLD switch, mounted to side of tranny.
it not only does reverse but sends your shift selections to the
ECU , so it can autoshift your transmission

the first check is , fuses
2nd ,is try one new bulb inserted, and all old bulbs in pocket
blubs can short.

Back up lights out, so many wires!!!!

black: ground( all bulbs require a ground to operate)
green: right turn
yellow: left turn
red: brake
yellow and purple: back up

these are basic wiring colors they may not be exact for your aplication your best bet is to find someone u know with an ohm meter( multi meater) who knows how to test voltage and sort out the wires and re connect with splices NOT tape ur only asking for trouble if u dont do it right the first time ( oh before u start check the fuse size and get some extra u will probably blow a few sorting it out best of luck

I have a 96 nissan altima and it has no reverse lights and bulbs have been replaced !

There still should be an electric switch somewhere on the linkage for reverse lights. Try looking up the part at Autozone or Advance autoparts and you can probably find a picture for the backup light switch.

Just enter your vehicle on the sites and see what pops up. Once you see what the part looks like, it will be easier to find. Also, if you do not have a Owners Manual, register your car on Autozone and you can get fusebox diagrams and wiring details.

Since this is a stick shift, the Backup lights may have their own fuse.

Please rate my solution.

2001 Dakota back-up lights don't work

it could be number of things, start with the easiest first... check the bulbs. if theyre good then try the fuses if theyre good then maybe the wre came off the trans back up sensor or maybe the sensor is even loose, have someone watch the lights as you wiggle your shifter

The 5 speed trans. has a back up light switch on the left side of the tranny (as you face front of truck), check to see if it's shot ($10 part, screws in)
