The ABS pump on my GMS Yukon XL (2002) wont shut off. It made a 14 hour drive and now wont quit running. 1) Why? 2) What is the fix? and 3) Do I really need ABS?

I live about 1 1/2 miles down a rough dirt road. So, we are always sort of off roading - dirt, mud, etc. Are the sensors where they can be cleaned?

Thanks. That was exactly what I was looking for.

The dealer will charge you $1300 - $2000. Contact Module Masters. They are great to deal with. You have to ship it to Moscow, Idaho. It cost me about $15 to ship it (with box, packing, and insurance at a UPS store). They charged me $130 to rebuild it and gave me a 5 year warranty. It cost $8 to ship it back. To in total, it cost me $153....totally turn-key.

Good Day,

The easiest solution is to locate the abs fuse in the fuse box. Remove that fuse and ABS is now disabled(this will trip you abs light), brakes will function normal but keep in mind you will lock the wheels up under heavy braking. Possible cause are bad abs sensors, or bad abs module. If you don't mind no abs then problem solved, otherwise take it to a shop and have a code pulled from the abs module to diagnose further. Where you off-roading(dirt or mud)?? Sometimes the sensor's get dirty and give false reading.

Good Luck and I hope this helps

It depends on how dirty they are. The sensor's are attached directly to the axle usualy on the wheel bearing assembly or somewhere in the general area. Easiest way to locate them is to remove a wheel, look at the frame rail and you will see a wire with a connecter attached to the rail. Follow the wire down to identify the sensor to the hub to identify the sensor. It's location will vary between 1500 and 2500 series and 2wd and 4wd model yukon's.

Here's a link for somemore helpful info.

Good Luck again, hope this helps

What's your problem? 2000 Yukon XL Yukon died while driving down the highway like it ran out of fuel. Had 1/4 tank. No fuel pressure.

You'll need to check the circuit from the fuel pump relay back to the pump. The computer grounds the relay.
If the pump is running the filter could be clogged.
