1982 ford stepside. no brake lights. tried putting a wire to the blinker wires and to the taillight wire from the the brake pedal. nothing works. i have a tail lights, blinkers and reverse but cant get...

Check the brake switch on the back of the brake pedal up behind the dash it should have to wires going to it and will be about 2 1/2 inchs long and threaded. one end will hit the brake pedal on the back side it will look like this >L where the arrow points you will see the switch it will have a quick disconnect on the back of it, and if you take a paper clip and install on the back side intot he wire harness quick disconnet swith look to see if the brake lights are on. If they are on then the switch is bad. to replace it has a half inch lock nut you can back off 1/4 turn then unscrew it out any parts store will carry it. It lists for 14.95 it could be the turn signal switch too. Now this is assuming you checked the fuses also this has two buttons on it and it may be the plug is loose. here is the web page the brake switch is at the bottom and the turn signal switch is about midway. This has a picture with it and price as well. Thanks for using fix-ya http://www.jcwhitney.com/switches/c1643j1s17.jcwx

2003 Toyota Tundra Limited Stepside truck. No brake light. But the 3rd brake light works. Already checked the 15 amp fuse by the steering column

Hello.

We would suggest that you look at the wiring connector under the bed, that feeds the taillamps.

You will probably find a coroded wire in the connector. If the 3rd brake lamp works, all of the fuses and switches are good.

1984 truck lights

Get a small electrical test probe (available at any store for around $8) so you can check for power at these wires.
This type of wiring system could be using one wire to provide running lights for both left and right(you would have to run a split wire off this one to the other side) and then the other two other wires would provide Turn signal and brake lights.

check the linkage for play it it.it may have vibrated loose or try shifting it manually under the truck to see if you can do it by hand. do not do it while the truck is running.
