7.3 liter diesal won't start.

We went to New Hampshire for the race this weekend and this truck ran fine as it always has in the past. We had a sever thunderstorm come through and when I went to start the truck after the storm it will not start, It cranks fine, the glow plugs are working but all we can get is a very slight puff of smoke from the exhaust. We have checked all the fuses and relays and they seem to be fine. ANY IDEAS?

Thanks for the info but as it turned out it was a direct lightening strike. We had it towed to The Ford dealer and the pdm was fried. It lost everything. $1285 later we drove it home and it is actually running better that it was before.

If it is common rail injection sounds like an injector failiure. If you can tow it in gear and it starts, it's overfuelling.

Jaguar transmission problems

Depends in the mileage since the transmission was last serviced. It sounds like low pressure from the pump. It could be just a filter. You did not say where the leaking seal is, but a leaking seal will not fix itself.

Took RAV 4 to NC mountains and back twice this weekend. It ran fine but started it this morning and it would stall when I took my foot off gas pedal

I would change your fuel filter. The mountains, and the sudden jerking would provide a great chance for the fuel to pull up any nasties, and then run them through the line.

The primary pump is defective, it has a check valve that is bad so replace the pump it costs $0.00 compared tothe pressure pump thats $900.00 and it will be damaged if let run dry.

1991 Jeep Fuel Control Issue

Hey Mudkicker,

Who ever thought of putting an electric fuel pump inside a tank of gas........

Check your other gauges for accuracy. They do that when a ground is loose.

Check the wiring from the fuel tank along the longitudinal frame for frays and shorts. Plugs are secured.

Under the hood, passenger side, check the fuel pump relay. Switch it with one of the others to test it.

Bring the vehicle to an auto parts store. Ask them to break out he code reader. Check for diag codes

Vehicle dies

Sounds like a possible fuel pump problem...When they begin to go bad they will overheat and lock up, then work fine for a while and do the same thing again. By changing the filter you lowered the flow resistance and allowed the pump to work a bit easier but still being bad, it did the same thing again. There are other things that can do this as well, but pump is most common.

F350 no start

I have a feeling you got a wholed of unleaded fuel or bad fuel
I drive a diesel box truck the station I always took it to the fuelman put unleaded in the diesal tanks and the truck just died it had to have the gas tank completed drained and cleaned out but also ask yourself how many miles are on it and when was last tune up and if you live in a cold climate I recommend a heater block plug

Motor swap now it will not start

Unfortunately, there is no easy solution here. I had the same problem with my race car. I swapped a 96 2.2 into my 97 racecar and ended up having to also swap the engine wiring harness, computer, instrament cluster and pass module. The engine harness will bolt to the interior harness even though the wire colors are not the same. Just make sure you match the large yellow wire on the 96 harness to the large purple wire on the 97 harness. It sounds pretty complicated but it only took me maybe an hour to perform the swap. Now I'm back up and running and will be racing again this weekend.
