Question about 2001 Audi A4
Hi, I recently purchased the above car from a friend. The car was very well maintained and drives beautifully, the only problem I have noted is that, for a 1.9 TDI, when I pull out to overtake another vehicle it is very slow to accelerate. My friend said he had noted this but had put it down to it being 7 years old. I tend to disagree and think the car should have some 'poke' when you need it. I recently sold a 1995 A4 (petrol) that had no acceleration problems. Any ideas? The car is due for a service in 700 miles.
Go 4 the Mass Air Flow sensor as its a TDI

well Fuel pressure will cause this concern as with a failing fuel pump, also a misfiring engine from worn plugs or defective coils will cause any bucking/jerking if u have as you try to accelerate, but this would cause a check engine lamp. A bad Mass Air Flow sensor can also cause a poor acceleration and usually does not turn on the check engine lamp.
