2001 Audi A4 Avant 1.9 TDI

Hi, I recently purchased the above car from a friend. The car was very well maintained and drives beautifully, the only problem I have noted is that, for a 1.9 TDI, when I pull out to overtake another vehicle it is very slow to accelerate. My friend said he had noted this but had put it down to it being 7 years old. I tend to disagree and think the car should have some 'poke' when you need it. I recently sold a 1995 A4 (petrol) that had no acceleration problems. Any ideas? The car is due for a service in 700 miles.

Hey
well Fuel pressure will cause this concern as with a failing fuel pump, also a misfiring engine from worn plugs or defective coils will cause any bucking/jerking if u have as you try to accelerate, but this would cause a check engine lamp. A bad Mass Air Flow sensor can also cause a poor acceleration and usually does not turn on the check engine lamp.

How can I make my car look more polished?

I just love watching my car, after a polish. I believe that Polishing is an essential thing for the car, once in a while. This is a process of caring and maintaining the natural shine and paint of the car. I believe everybody should polish their car at least once in a month after their first purchase. After doing a regular polish monthly from the Paint Protection Perth services, I fond my car shining and looking more beautiful than ever!. I think this would one of the best choices to make your car look more shiny and polished.

I have a colt Agent 38 special. The cylinder is very difficult to push open and closed. It spins freely when open and shoots fine. What can I do to make it easier to open and close?

Hello Greg Anderson,

That is a beautiful piece.
The release and drop hinge should both operate quite easily and freely. One of the smoothest actions I have ever felt ...
WHEN PROPERLY MAINTAINED.

I would suggest you scamper on down to you local friendly SMITHY to purchase a cleaning and lube kit... but more importantly to get and EXPERT opinion on needed SERVICE
or possibly a REBUILD.

There are more complex & critical internal MECHANISMS
that if are LIKEWISE malfunctioning could be quite dangerous.

Be safe.
