The car alarm on your 2000 Windstar minivan is wired into your van's battery. When you are making a repair to your car such as a battery change out your alarm can go off. You can easily disable the Windstar's car alarm by disconnecting the battery from the alarm. The battery is connected to the Windstar battery's negative terminal. Disconnecting the terminal from the battery will disable the alarm.

  • Socket wrench
  1. 1 Raise the hood of the Windstar to gain access to the battery.
  2. 2 Loosen the negative battery terminal labeled with a "-" with a socket wrench.
  3. 3 Disconnect the terminal from the battery to disable the alarm system.

    The
    Ford Windstar is a mini-van that is no longer manufactured. Ford
    Windstars from 1999 were optionally equipped with perimeter alarm
    systems. The anti-theft alarm system was designed to help prevent unauthorized entry into the vehicle
    by flashing the side lamps and sounding the horn. The 1999 Ford
    Windstar alarm can be enabled whenever the key is removed from the
    ignition.

        Enable the alarm by either pressing the remote entry lock control or the interior power door lock
        control when the door is open. The alarm will be enabled on closed
        doors in 20 seconds. Any open doors should be closed, and those doors
        will be armed in 20 seconds.

        Disable the alarm by pressing the transmitter unlock control. This is the unlocked padlock icon on the remote control.




        3


        Deactivate the alarm by unlocking the doors with a key.




        4


        Turn a programmed SecuriLock key to "Run/Start" in the
        ignition to disable the alarm. SecuriLock is Ford's passive antitheft
        system comprised of keys programmed with codes specific to the vehicle.

Hi Tony, Take up the broken pieces and if there is a battery in the key connect it to the broken pieces, insert the key holding the broken parts in the same relative position and start up. Get the key replaced asap. Regards John

That is your alram system. The computer has sensed something and turned the alram. Be careful because they can lock up the car where it can't be started. You will need to reset the system. You should call the dealership and tell them you need the security code for your vehicle. I am not sure about unplugging the battery. I don't know if that will work or not. My 2001 s type jag wont start due alarm
Is the car alarming when opened on the fob? If so you have a control module fault. Try opening the car with the key. as soon as you unlock the door, open it and insert the key in the ignition - this should bypass the remote control. If you still have problems with this method - you will have to take it for repair/replace.

Battery dead
You need to hook the alarm back up and do a reset on the car.

Here is how you do it.

1) Turn factory original key to "ON" position for 5 seconds
2) Turn key to "OFF" position.
3) Repeat 1 and 2 again. Do it twice.
4) This should reset the computer to the chip inside the key.

If that didn't work,You will need to have the codes downloaded at the dealer.
