We understand that your problem is: I have a 1990 g20 Chevy van it has been overheating, I replaced the thermostat and the heater control valve. When it is overheating the heat inside wont work but sometimes the heat will work and the van wont overheat until I stop and restart. Somehow I am loosing water when I drive even though I only drive less than a mile at a time because of not wanting to cause more damage. I put water and antifreeze in it before I drive. I noticed that there is water running down the tailpipe but i cant see where it is coming from. Any suggestions? I am a girl doing this mostly myself so any help is better than what I have now!.

Check to see if any of the freeze plugs show signs of leaking. Freeze plugs are the round circle things you will see running along both sides of the engine block below the intake and manifold. Freeze plugs are designed to pop out if the coolant in the engine freezes preventing damage to the engine block. Over time these can corrode and start leaking coolant from them.

How to fix my heat in the 1995 g2 van I have . No heat coming out.

There are several possible reasons why your 1995 G2 van may not be producing heat. Here are a few things you can try to troubleshoot the issue:
  1. Check the coolant level in the radiator. Low coolant levels can cause the heating system to not function properly.
  2. Inspect the thermostat to ensure that it is functioning properly. The thermostat may need to be replaced if it is stuck in the closed position.
  3. Check the heating system hoses for any leaks or blockages.
  4. Inspect the heater core for any leaks or blockages. The heater core may need to be flushed or replaced if it is not functioning properly.
  5. Check the control panel for any error codes or messages that may indicate the cause of the issue.

My 1992 chevy g20 van surges and i'm not sure exactly why. I changed the pcv valve, fuel filter, spark plugs, and air filter. What are some possibilities

My first thought would be a vacuum leak in one of the hoses. Rubber hoses get brittle with age and even a small crack in a hose may cause surging. Happened to me in a Lumina.

My 93 chevy g20 van heater doesn't work very well. It has the hottest running thermostat available.

you want to get a thermostat that has a low temp release. when u have a hightemp release it does not open til it reaches a hot temp. when you put the low temp in it releases earlier and warms the heater core up as the engine warms up.
