1. Drive the vehicle until the fluid temperature reaches normal operating the usual temperature [80-90°C (176-194°F)]. 2. Place the vehicle on a level floor. 3. Move the selector lever sequentially to every position. This will fill the torque converter and hydraulic system with fluid, then place lever in "N" (Neutral) position. 4. Before removing the dipstick, wipe all contaminate from area around the dipstick. Then take out the dipstick and check the condition of the fluid. The transaxle should be overhauled under the following conditions. a. If there is a "burning" odor. b. If the fluid color has become noticeably blacker. c. If there is a noticeably excessive amount of metal particles in the fluid. 5. Check to see if the fluid level is in the "HOT" range on dipstick. If fluid level is low, add automatic transaxle fluid until the level reaches the "HOT" range. Transaxle fluid: GENUINE HYUNDAI ATF SP-II, DIAMOND ATF SP-II or AUTRAN MMSP-II. Low fluid level can cause a variety of abnormal conditions because it allows the pump to take in air along with fluid. Air trapped in the hydraulic system forms bubbles which are compressable. Therefore, pressures will be erratic, causing delayed shifting, slipping clutch and brakes, etc. Improper filling can also raise fluid level too high. When the transaxle has too much fluid, gears churn up foam and cause the same conditions which occur with low fluid level, resulting in accelerated deterioration of automatic transaxle fluid. In either case, air bubbles can cause overheating, and fluid oxidation, which can interfere with normal valve, clutch, and servo operation. Foaming can also result in fluid escaping from the transaxle vent where it may be mistaken for a leak. 6. Be sure to examine the fluid on the dipstick closely.HYUNDAI TRANSMISSION - 0f3ac6e.gif

What types of trans fluid will work in my 2001 hyundai tiburon

The car handbook will provide the required specification the fluid should meet. If the information on the dexron container match those long specification numbers then it should be ok.

Recently fluid specifications change fairly rapidly and it is best to check the fluid manufacturer's current application catalogue before adding fluid to your transmission.

I want to change my 6 speed transmission to automatic how much trouble is it in a 2003 hyundai tiburon

It would be a fairly difficult project. You'ld need to change trans mount, different driveshaft, shifter & linkage, add a torque converter, new radiator w/trans cooler built in lower section, cooler lines. On top of all that, Hyundai automatic transmissions are very unreliable.

Hyundai transmission fluid

I don't know which fluid, probably dexron II. The autoparts store will have that knowledge in their books. As far as adding, no, engine off. Engine on to check fluid. Does your tranmission leak? Otherwise it should never need more fluid.

Check engine light, trans not shifting right

This is slippage occurring in the core behind the torch converter. i would check the fluid level fats. if its full, you have a transmission filter blockage. this will need to be repaired before more damage occurs. if its empty, you will need to add some fluid so you can get it to the shop as soon as possible.

2001 Hyundai Tiburon automatic transmission problem

Okay, I baught an 01' tiburon last march. When I first had trouble with the tranny it wouldnt shift into fourth and no it wasnt the overdrive button. Then it started downshiftling like what your experiencing then I lost reverse. Ammco rebuilt the tranny. I would take it to them, they will inspect it for free. You may just need a tran fluid flush. You should know that in the automatics the tranny is the weakest part of the car. The engines are great, just everything around them seems to fall apart after 120,000 miles.
Ammco offers a free inspection service. However Just from experience - if you need a new auto tranny it is cheaper to buy one already rebuilt (with warrantee) and pay to have it installed than to rebuild the one you have.
Cheers to hyundai challenge : )
