It should be located right behind the powersteering pump..See if you can see the wires..The wires come out and go around the intake..Thats on a 2001 malibu..But i dont think they changed it..If its still located there,,its not to hard to remove..Go through the holes in the powersteering pulley and remove the poersteering bolts..Remove the fuel pressure relieve cap and carefully slide the pump out,,and move it to the side..Then youll see the sensor..Take the screw out and soak around the sensor with some wd40 and work the sensor out..The hardest part is working the sensor out
There are two crankshaft sensors for this engine. One is located behind the engine crankshaft pulley, or harmonic balancer. The second is located in the engine block on the rear center location of the engine.
Each provides a seperate signal to the onboard computer. One is 7X per revolution and the other is 24X per revolution.
I hope this answers your question. That's were they are and what they do.
It mounts in the side of the block near the crankshaft,it fits in a hole, going into the engine block.,look on the inside of the engine compartment ,on the firewall side, left of the pulleys, down low.
it is located behind the power steering pump. You need to remove the
power steering pump to get to it which requires removing the engine
mount next to it to get the bottom bolt out of the power steering pump.
The sensor is directly behind the power steering pump. You can follow
the cable that goes behind the pump. It is the only one there.
