Most likely one of the cv joints is coming apart, in which case the axle assembly should be replaced.

if the cv joint boot cover is bad then you might have got dirt or road dust in there.
I would replace the half shaft or left axle would only cost a little more for new axle.
and be safer.
also check the right side it might be do also.
can do one at a time because of money.

There is a small "circlip"holding the axle in place. Place a pry bar between the cv joint and the transmission and pry the axle out with a sharp snapping movement. This should pop the axle loose from the "circlip". The steering wheel can be turned to gain more working room. Tell those guys to lay off the heat. Hopefully no damage was done and they will be able to get the new axles in without too much trouble. Merry Christmas.

Is this the passenger side? Remove the three bolts that hold the bracket that the shaft goes thru to the block. Pry the bracket from the block slightly and tap the shaft and bracket from the trans.

undo plasic cover inside the door remove holding bolts and do the reverse to put new one on

Assuming you have the spindle off - you need a pry bar between the inner mount and the transaxle. Give it a bit of a snap as it is held in with a lock ring around the spline. Note the gap - when replacing it - pop it in fairly well till you feel the snap ring lock back into position. If you are replacing it - inspect the new one - the lock ring should already be installed.

I think you mean cv joint. If so, a new axle cost $59. You are doing alot of extra work and the joints could be damaged. The outer joint comes off, but it takes a large hammer. The inner joint usually has an inboard ring clip that you pop out with a screwdriver.

take the screws out, pop off the panel, disconnect the wire connectors, make sure you dont lose the screws.

to put the panel back on: reconnect the wire connectors, put panel back on track, pop panel on (hit the corners), put the screws in and tighten them.
