V6 engine: firing order: 1 2 3 4 5 6, distributor rotates clockwise. Left bank of engine (driver's side), cylinders 2, 4, 6 (#2 at front of engine). Right bank: 1, 3, 5 (#1 at front of engine).
Inline 6 engine: firing order is 1-5-3-6-2-4. Distributor rotates clockwise.
The number one tower on the dist. cap should have a mark or numeral 1 on it. If not, turn crankshaft to top dead center of compression stroke on number one cylinder, the 0 degrees or "T" mark on the crank pulley pointer. If you are on the compression stroke (not the exhaust stroke), the rotor under the dist. cap will be pointing to the number one cylinder spark plug wire tower.
153624 is the firing order ,i have no idea where no1 is on the distributor cap ,what i would do is assume that no1 is front left ,take the rocker cover off and watch the valves ,when the inlet and exhaust valves are both open at the same time look to dist cap and it will be pointing at this cylinder so take that as no1 and see if it runs .Sorry we only use mainly 4 cyl engines here in spain as we cannot afford the petrol for bigger motors ,
1-3-4-2 Marker on dist is number 1 (TDC) next with correct rotation of the crankshaft should be cyl 3 and so on. The corresponding firing order should have a TDC orientation meaning during power stroke the valves should be both closed. Same at the dist cap 1-3-4-2 in the correct direction of rotation.
There wont be a firing order on the dist cap , there might be a firing order stamped onto the intake manifold near usually infront of the throttle body.
to get the cap wiring you will need a manual, some auto store will print you off pictures of the cap firing order and cylinder numbering, just ask.
V-8=pass side cyl.2-4-6-8....drivers side cyl. 1-3-5-7....firing order 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2....v-6= pass side 2-4-6...drivers side...1--3-5 firing order listed on top if its a flat dist cap....if round cap order is 1-2-3-4-5-6-5...good luck..Lee.
