I think it might be your cam angle sensor in the distributor. try that first.

Good Day,

There could several causes for this problem. Obviously the injectors aren't getting fuel, so the first thing to check is the fuel pump. If the fuel pump isn't working it won't send any fuel from the tank to the motor. Another possibilty is a dirty or clogged fuel filter, again if this is bad it will not allow fuel into the motor. And of course it could also be dirty or clogged fuel injector nozzle's, this can be treated with fuel injector cleaner poured into the tank.

I hope this helps.

Where is the fuel pump on a 1988 toyota corrolla station wagon

I don't know if your fuel injected or carb? If your fuel injected, probably electric fuel pump, in the gas tank. If not fuel injected, probably a mechanical fuel pump, under the hood, note picture.

Check spark plugs and eventually replace air filter.
Is it an injection or carburetor model?
If it injections it is probably a dirty injector or a computer problem.
If it is carb you need just to regulate carburetor.

If it runs when you pour gas into the intake then stops you have a bad fuel pump. In 1976 most used car orators. This being a German auto at that time... Maybe had the early fuel injection using the lamda (sp?) Mechanical system... If it does then you need a mechanic with experience on mechanical fuel injection.

Car cranks but will not start

This could go several ways #1 engine mechanical check cranking compression should have 125 psi or greater in all cylinders if low but even squirt oil (1/2 oz.) in 1 cylinder and retest goes higher then rings sealing has been lost. if uneven check timing belt for jumped or misalignment. #2 electrical does it have electrical spark to plugs crank engine with a spark plug connected to spark plug wire laying plug on engine can you see spark? No test ignition coil wires with a logic probe both terminals will be red with key on one will flash red/green when engine cranking does not the primary ignition needs repair Ignition module? or pick-up coil/ crank sensor. #3 fuel system pressure and injection pulse. injection pulse can be tested with logic probe DONOT USE A TEST LIGHT YOU CAN RUIN THE ECU .

I Let my chevy Blazer run out of gas,nw it wont start even though the relay and fuelpump is working.

Is it electric or mechanical pump? Electric is with fuel injection. If its fuel injection, you should hear the pump run when you turn ignition switch. If u don't hear it, try starting, if no, turn off then on. It will self prime. Carburetor is with mechanical pump. I usually put few drops of gas in the carb. Start it, if no, more in carb till it stays running.

My car keep stopping itook it to a mechanic shop to be put on the machine it read the throttle position sensor is killing the mechanic say the car donot have a throttle position do i have to bring the car...

No, actually I would find a different Mechanic. 2000 and newer the TPS, Throttle Position Sensor, is pretty much standard to control idle RPM. Even in Fuel injection, it is just located on an Air control valve instead of a Carburetor.

Slow to start after key is on, pumping gas helps but the smell is very rich, like a carburator problem. Also the engine light came on during a short drive then went out. Any ideas?

No need to pump the gas on any modern car. This is a fuel injected car and if you are smelling fuel there is a problem and you should take it to a qualified mechanic.

My 1999 dodge intrepid is trying to start but wont fire up.I changed the chamshaft sensor & my fuel pump is working.i also changed relays & fuses. What could the problem be.

try the crankshaft sensor. it is on the transmission bell housing on the passenger side. You could also check for codes by turning the key to the on then off 3 times (DO NOT START THE ENGINE) and it will give you any stored codes in the mileage display

Car will start but wont stay on

Idle adjustment. You didn't state the vehicle, so I will post two possible solutions.

Fuel injected engines typically have an IAC valve in the throttle body. This valve adjusts the throttle plate to be open to a certain extent. The computer can control this valve as need based on the density of oxygen in the air. Remove the throttle body and clean the IAC valve or replace it if necessary. Mechanical (gas engine) experience necessary.

Carb engines typically have an idle adjustment screw on the exterior that may need adjusted. Mechanical (gas engine) experience necessary.

Hard to start when engine is cold

The thing you need to do is run a leak down test on the fuel pump overnight, hook up a fuel pump test guage to the fuel injector gas rail test port, run the engine, note the fuel pressure when you shut the engine off, it should not drop more than 5 PSI overnight, if it does you need a new fuel pump. Your car doesn't use a cold start valve, that was used on very early Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection systems, they where last used in the 80's
