You need to have the computer scanned. The problem is a misfire. You may have a bad coil, spark plug, or injector. My thoughts are an overheated coil.

On 3 occasions have had 3 loud audible warning beeps, but no warning lights come on, when stationary at traffic lights, with neutral gear and handbrake on.

Sound like a brake on warning so you don't put in gear and drive with the break on however a brake light should come on but it maybe Burt out

hello there
Make shure you fuel filler caps is on corrrectly. Also water+oil filler caps have to be tight.
Then you could try mass air flow meter .
After try to have someone replace oil separator unit for you with the breather hose.

Emmision light blinking

a blinking light means the system has detected a misfire in the engine. Have the system tested to see what cylinder(s) is misfiring

Emmision system service required with engine

I just had the same problem, which I also had in another car, a Jag XF, this can be related to too much town driving, and you may need to take half an hour of motorway or similar driving at higher speeds to clear the problem from the exhaust system, and the warning light.

Emissions warning light stays illuminated while driving vehicle is a holden vectra 2001 and not oldsmobile as below. could not find a listing for holden.

The warning light has two states. A blinking light indicates a critical problem with gaseous emissions from the engine that is likely to cause permenant damage to the engine, exhaust sytem or catalytic converter. A blinking light must be remedied immediately, and the car should not be driven in this state, at the risk of causing serious and permenant damage to the engine, exhaust and/or catalytic converter. Repairing or replacing these parts can be extremely expensive. A reputable garage or a Vauxall/Opel garage should be able to diagnose and repair the problem.

A solid (unblinking) light indicates a non-critical fault in the emmisions exhaust system. Many faults are covered by this light including failures in emssions sensors, temperature sensors and a variety of other parts. This usually results in a higher than average amount of environmentally harmful pollutants being expelled from the car, loss of power and/or gradual damage to the engine, exhaust and catalytic converter. While the car can still be driven with a non-critical emmisions problem, it is highly recommended that the fault is diagnosed and repaired at a reputable garage or Vauxhall/Opel garage.
