This car is a 1995 Subaru Legacy and I was wondering if it could be the Mass air flo sensor that is making the engine light to stay on?

Would like to find out where to buy a OBD1 for a 95 Subaru?

i have the same problem with my 1997 legacy. i bought it used with the check engline light on and spent $700 tryin to fix it for inspection. they signed a waiver because of all the money i put in it tryin to fix it, so they put the stickers on my car. now my check engine light is still on and just this week my car has been stalling like its running out of gas and just keeps dying out. its the the shop now and the only thing the machine is reading is a transmission code. I really think it is the MAF. Email me at marissa1115@yahoo.com

bought the car used, from the 1st owner, this past July 2008 and the check engine light has been on continuously. Apparently AutoZone stores can read the code problem, but there isn't one near me and I don't want to spent $100 for something that may be a $20 fix. Anyone else come across this or how you went about fixing it? The car runs and drives excellently and is in great shape for being 13 years old with 207,000 miles on it. It's a head-stratcher.

For your tacho, is your alternator ok? are your coil packs ok? get these tested first, these may also set off your check engine light.

Adjusting the valves will usually fix this problem.
When is the code detected?
The control module monitors the crankshaft speed and has detected a misfire condition
Possible symptoms
- Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)
- Lack/loss of power
- Hard start
- Engine hesitation
P1399 Honda Description
When a misfire occurs, engine speed will fluctuate. If the engine speed fluctuates enough to cause the Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor signal to vary, the Engine Control Module (ECM) can determine that a misfire is occurring.

My 98 jimmy sputters and oil pressure fluctuates

Hello
When the service engine soon light (Also called the check engine light or engine management light) is turned on this is to alert you to the fact that Powertrain Control Module (computer) has detected a failure somewhere in the systems it controls you may not feel any difference in the way the engine runs, this can be the transmission or the engine or emission system, there are fault codes set in the modules memory for these faults. What needs to happen now is to have the powertrain control module scanned with a special tool called an OBD2 electronic engine control scanner or a OBD2 code reader. Once the code(s) are read then you must perform the diagnostics for each code and make the appropriate repairs based on the findings of the diagnosis that was performed, this is called doing "Pinpoint" testing.

I have a 2001 Grand Cherokee. After driving on the highway for 125 plus mile with the cruise on the tach will start to move a few hundred RPMs. It will start with 200 then a little more and then 500 and...

The most likely cause is a bad throttle position sensor (TPS). It's located on the throttle body. With the engine idling, grab the connector on it and move it up and down. If the idle fluctuates it is for sure bad. Otherwise you will need a scanner to properly diagnose your problem.

My 2000 cavalier, 2.2L runs real smooth while driving on a road or street, but when stopped at a street light at idol it seems to run rough and the tach fluctuates. also seems to be getting poor fuel...

I would recommend getting a tune up first and see if that changes how it runs. Also change your fuel filter and air filter. If it doesn't change then it could be a vacuum hose that's off or broke. Also Buy some Techron fuel injector cleaner and dump it in your tank this will help clean your injectors.Since there is no mention of a check engine light being on then this should help.

My 92 bonneville stalls when slowing or deceleraring , starts right up, i notice neddle on tach idle fluctuates, also have small leak in rubber fuel return hose under passenger side, any thoughts?

Is your check engine light on? It could be a vaccum leak. Try to keep it simple and don't go throwin parts at it or you could create a new problem. If your check eng light is on have it scanned at your local Autozone. Ask the store rep what are possible causes of the code.

Dropping oil pressure

You need to put a mechanical gauge on it to read actual oil pressure, sometimes the sensor is wrong, have seen the gauge be off (even on newer than yours). The first thing anyone would do is the mechanical pressure test with a screw in oil pressure gauge. That would be my advise.
