My subaru outback 1997 has a problem with the key lock on the drivers side, ever since it became cold outside the lock will not turn without it feeling like the key will break in the hole. i have had success unlocking and locking it when i open the door and try really hard. basically its just very tight.

This is moisture in the lock or associated hardware. Heat the key or use a de-icer in the lock.

Limited slip axles require in many cases the additive. It is ***** whale oil that is added to the required gear oil. Ck with Subaru is best. They sell it in the parts department and if capable you can add it yourself. or, have the dealer service your differential fluids. fluids

SOURCE: 2003 Subaru Legacy Outback: Driver's door lock brocken, tab feels

alot of times a lock smith has "slim jimmed" the car before and that subsequently can break clips or knock off lock rods to the latch. not too hard to fix if you can get the door open in order to remove inner door panel accessing that latch and rods...if the door wont open i have used a very long ,slendy screwdriver and poked down the window opening to mannually open the door latch ...it takes a little time and some gentle poking to hit the lever on that door latch

1997 Subaru Outback drivers power window fails to turn off after going down in auto mode but is ok in manual mode. Switch or motor issue?

WE know the motor is working fine, so it must be the switch or in the electrical circuit. Good Luck

I have a 2001 Outback Ltd Wagon. Driver's door is closed and locked....and won't unlock with remote/ keyless entry/ key. Any help would be great!

You will have to remove the seat from the other side ,then get the door panel off to see what the problem is ,offhand i cannot think as the lock should be seperate and even in a failsafe position it should open from the inside so i can only assume that a metal link bar had dropped off and jammed the lock into the locked position but no doubt iam wrong as i very often am but the only way to find out is to get the door panel off

How do you replace the spark plug wires on 1997 Subaru outback/legacy?

Access from top is better but you must remove battery/washer reservoir driver's side and intake piping on passenger's side to get to the plugs. If you have bad back, access from underneath is fine but I'd have a ramp instead of jack for safety reasons.

It is a key system and when the drivers door is unlocked all the doors and rear hatch are supposed to unlock. Sometimes they do not. 1996 subarulegacy/outback

in some markets,if you turn the key quickly only the drivers door will unlock, you have to hold the key over longer to open all the doors.(so the driver can not be attacked by robbers from the passengers side or rear.....ladies handbags are a good source of income...)
