Question about 2004 Dodge Neon

1 Answer

Horn My car was parked in the garage today and suddenly the horn just went off by itself, constantly. I couldn't get it to stop, so I disconnected the battery. Then when I connected the battery again, the horn didn't go off (at that moment) but the airbag flashed on the dash constantly and the daytime running lights wouldn't come on when the engine was started. After about 10 minutes after the engine was stopped the horn started going again! There are no modifications to the car, no alarm, or remote starter. Any suggestions???? Thank you!!!!! Its driving me crazy!

Either the horn circuit or anti theft system periodically starts sounding off. Occurs while driving and while parked vehicle off. Is there any solution?

My horn did the same thing - we disconnected the horn (which in an 02' is behind the passenger side headlight) I'm sure it's wearing out and we need to replace it.

You need to disconnect the horn relay in the underhood fuse and relay center.

My horn sounds off and won't stop 'til I disconnect battery cable. Why?

sounds like there's a short in your wiring in the steering column, A lot of times with a tilt wheel a wire get loose or gets a short in it. the steering wheel may have to come off to fix the problem but make sure to disconnect the airbag first, I'm not sure what vehicle you have so I don't know where to tell you to look for the connection, may be best to take to a dealership if possible. Hope this helps.

Mom's car alarm went off while it is in the garage, and it won't go off. How do I stop it?

If you can't stop it with the remote, then find the fuse panel and look for the fuse that goes to the alarm. If the car's horn is honking, raise the hood and disconnect the horns.

2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 4X4. Everything worked fine until 11/22/2010. A strange alarm/beeping started on Monday. That beeping stopped on Tuesday, and so did the blower for the A/C-Heat-Defroster....

To Larry Crowley,
Did you ever correct the problem to your 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee and did you in fact determine that the problem was in fact the Body Control Module (BCM)?
I too have a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Ltd with 162,000 miles. Up until just a few months ago, I never had any major problems with the car however in early December one evening the car was turned off and parked in my garage and the horn just went off out of nowhere, a solid horn...it was deafening! We unplugged the battery for the night so it wouldn't drain the battery. The next day I took the car to the mechanic who replaced the horn switch and relay. We thought that had fixed the problem. An hour after I left the mechanic with the car both the BRAKE and ABS lights on my dash went on and my speedometer stopped working (very scary to drive that way). When I stopped the car and went to lock it with my keyfob, the solid horn went off again so obviously the problem was not the horn switch and relay!?!? Over the past few months I have had my car to three different mechanics as well as the Jeep dealer and they have all concluded that the problem must be the BCM but they said that the only was they can properly diagnose the car is if it is acting up with the above mentioned symptoms while in the shop. Unfortunately it only acts up intermitently, not all the time. I am at such a loss. Currently we have removed the fuse for the horn so I am driving with no horn which is extremely unsafe! I look forward to any advice you have in this regard. Thank you!

I have a 2004 chevby impalla. The car was parked in my garage last night and the horn just started blaring. I tried the alarm button on key it did not stop.I started the car the horn Left blaring. I...

I wonder,, with colder tempratures this time of year, If somehow a connection in the horn pad was shorting out.due to expansion or contraction of a component inside the steering wheel. Try tapping on the top of the air bag on the steering wheel and horn buttons ..this may work ..note this is a guess and I hope this does it the only reason I mentioned it Is because I have seen this two other times...Good luck.

My car horn randomly goes off while car is off?

The horn works by earthing, normally done by you pressing switch, if the horns wire or the internally creates a contact to earth(chassis) your horn will sound. Take your switch apart on you steering wheel & give it a clean.
Hope this helps, if not, remove wire at horn end, leaves you with no horn but peaceful nights.
Have a nice day.
