My fan for my heat and air in my 99 mercury mystique is working but I have no heat. I believe it might be that the heater core is clogged, but I can't find its location. I can't afford to replace the core, so I was wondering if was possible to flush it?

There is a switch on the control console that activates the heater door control. The door control is located behind the glove box. (You have to remove the glove box to get to it) If the switch on the console is bad, or the door control is bad, the door may not be opening to allow the blower to blow through the heater core and into the cab. I would think that if the core were plugged or coolant wasn't allowed through it, it would cause the car to overheat. its called a blend door it turns different ways door can stick causeing no heat

No heat cold air Mercury Sable 2001 3.0

Thermostat stuck open, low coolant level, stuck blend door or bad blend door actuator, or blogged heater core. Feel both hoses to the heater core. They should both be about the same temp. If one is hot and the other is cold, you have a clogged heater core. If both are hot, then the thermostat is working and you've got a blend air door/actuator problem. Actuator failure is pretty common on these. Remove the actuator and open the door by hand. If you get heat, replace the actuator

Have no heat

Check the heater hoses to see that they are getting warm. If so, flapper door which directs air to go through the heater core may be inoperative due to bad actuator or vacuum leak.

Heater Core replacement

first, check the coolant level and add if its low..check for accidental ac turn-on at the controlls..then its an issue with the controls themselves provided the water pump is good..there are baffle doors that are controlled reemotely in the dash and one of these couldd be not functioning or blocked by debris like a penny sliding into the defrost vent will jam the door and keep it from working...check these and see...good luck..

My 96' Mystiques heater will not produce warm air, but the car does not over heat. Thought this might be a heater core issue but now I am second guessing that. What else could it be?

If the heater hoses are getting hot, and the radiator is full of coolant, you could have a problem with one of the blend doors under the dash. The blend doors direct air flow thru the heater core and the vents.

My heat is not working in my mercury mystique 98 but it blows out cold air

If the coolant temp gauge is in it;s usual position when driving(at least 1/3 way up) then flush the heater core with a garden hose.Clamp off the heater hoses, remove them from the heater core and flush back and forth a few times until flow is good, reattach heater hoses and you should have heat as long as the heat/cold airflow door is in the heat position in the heater assembly under the dash.
